OP - did you read the article? If so, how on earth did you come to the conclusion that this professor or the article had anything to do with COVID-19?
The article literally does not even mention coronavirus or COVID-19, and you somehow come to the conclusion that this proves China bioengineered coronavirus as a weapon?

This story is obviously false because the Coronavirus pandemic will adversely impact the Chinese economy just as badly (if not more) than the rest of the world.
China produces products and the rest of the world is their main consumer. Shutting down the world's ability to buy products hurts China's economy disproportionately in the long run.
Also, it highlighted the world's dependence on China for essential goods, such as pharmaceuticals, which will now be shifted back to the U.S. as a result of this mess.
If the blame game is now happening, I hope that means people are taking getting infected very seriously.
China should still be punished in some way since the virus did originate from there, especially if they were slow to warm the world of its danger.

This is bullshit. However, China is responsible for
1. Having wet markets, where it's easy for viruses to spread from one animal to another one and eventually to humans. Wet markets seem to be back now as life in China seems to be normalizing. (Source: Washington Examiner). Probably means another outbreak of something within the next ten years if this behavior doesn't stop.
2. Not containing the outbreak in Wuhan once it got under way.
3. Covering the outbreak up and lying for fucking up.
4. Lying about how many cases and deaths they had. It seems likely TEN TIMES as many people in Wuhan likely died of Coronavirus (20,000 vs 2,000+). Poor people. (See source below).
Taken together, as this pandemic wreaks havoc on the rest of the world, China has a lot of blood on its hands and a lot to account for. We need to hold them accountable for this AFTER this pandemic is over. Their behavior, particularly the government's, is unacceptable if they want to be leaders in a civilized world.

They may have tried to put a better spin on it, just like USA.
And RFA is not a neutral website--it is US Government (i.e. Trump controlled), and Trump and goon squad have been caught editing and trying to revise history to make themselves seem less guilty and stupid in this (not working, only makes it worse as we start to get perspective).
End of day, the real bullshit is that governments are looking at this pandemic as some kind of contest in how great they are--but rather than actually take the right action, they try to lie, edit the message, and confuse people with disinformation.

I’ve read the RAND reports on this, and outside of nuking Wuhan when the virus broke there is not much more that could have been done to stop it. Sure, China could have slowed it down, but in terms of stopping the biology from roaming there is no option with out a working vaccine.

Ok, I said I wasn't going to post in the blogs but I was asked to check my mail for uh highly artistic classy images of a woman's form.
Staring right at me was...a...blog...from BillnIrvine; the guy who decided to launch an Ad Hominem at
me earlier so...
Earlier I pointed the finger at Chinese Wet Markets but here's the thing; I hunt. I handle wild game periodically and put myself (albeit lower) risk as those markets. Think of a "wet market" as a "farmer's market" in western countries but your livestock is killed fresh (most of the time) and it's not just China it is in several regions all around the world.
If you've even been to an Asian market in southern California you've undoubtedly seen tanks of live fish; that's a wet market. Some places keep their seafood healthier than others; others or so horrible and disease prone I wouldn't even use the fish as fertilizer.
These markets also sell a lot of healthy produce ("organic, non-gmo" is kind of thing around the world because most countries or people don't have access to pesticides and plants like western countries do). Consider that package of "organic" "free range" chicken pre packed at the store; are you sure it is what it says it is? Just how fresh is it really? How sure are you the FDA regulator didn't just let some slip on by...
Also Wet Markets are a tradition. Telling the Chinese people to ban wet markets is like telling us to stop eating beef...and considering a large chunk of the world uses wet markets you'll need to shut those down. None of that'll happen no matter how wet your dream is of nuking China into a sea of glass.
We can put the lean on China to make sure there's better practices of sanitation and food regulation (I'm going to ignore the sad horrors of rampant poaching; that's a related but different topic).
Finally we can also interact more with the Chinese version of the CDC instead of finger pointing--be it "Keep your enemies closer" or just out of good will or self-preservation. Restoring those strong bonds of communication will help lower the risk of another pandemic. Maybe next time a Chinese doctor finds something, a US CDC person in China gets wind or it (or told) and we work together quarantining the issue. Worst case we have plenty of notice to shut down the borders.
