Under other conditions I could understand the need to arm themselves. But having known VERY shady people before when I was young and stupid (instead of old and stupid), who the hell want to attempt crime right now? Chances are you die during the attempt. And if you need to go to a hospital, well, guess what? Your body is weak AND you may get the bug.

To ALL the first time gun owners.
Get Professional instruction.
Not some person that says they know what there doing.
Most hand gun ranges will let you shoot several different guns when you tell them your
looking to buy your first gun.

Since I'm not allowed to have a gun in the house the last time I was in Nevada I stopped at the Bass Pro Shop and bought a couple of containers of bear spray ($50 each) with a 25' spray range. With bear spray you can quietly immobilize your assailant.
Beware bear spray is illegal in California so if you spray someone don't hang around or you will be arrested for assault and battery and probably sued even if they are the assailant.

Lamar, That is a good 2nd choice.

I should probably take a firearm safely class. I've never had one.
I should probably take a motorcycle riding safety class too. I've never had one of those either. Those classes could possibly save my life.

Yeah, buying guns will protect you from the Coronavirus.

@ night rider
The gun is for the Virus induced, break-down of society.
Better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it.

Lamar. By all means take a class in personal protection and make the SO go also.

Also a run on ammo.
Over the years, I've been replenishing my 9mm and M193 stash at $0.15/round and $0.30/round. 9mm is now around $0.30/round and M193 is around $0.45/round...if you can find them. And those are online prices, probably even more expensive at LGS.

Don't forget the California background check/tax.

I had some 22LR ammo that went bad after a few years.
Wonder how many preppers have a bunch of ammo stockpiled and it is no longer actually reliable?

Ammunition should last indefinitely, if stored in a cool dry place.
Even 22 long rifle
|
|
Store your ammunition in a cool dry place and pack in some silica gel to absorb any moisture.

I have 2 large packs in my safe. take them out and dry them 2 times a year.
Bake them at 250 for 1 hour.

If your in CA buy your guns used
No sales tax & you aren’t restricted to one purchase per month
