Advice v 2.0 to people who still meet up.

In thanks to the site for the years of service to the community, I thought I would post my thoughts on COVID19 and meeting new people. Remember, this is IMHO and YMMV with this advice.

The best thing to do for yourself and the broader community is not meet up. That is simple and obvious.

But lets say you still want to meet up or need to meet up, how can you do that safely?

First, ask yourself if you (not your profile age) are under 40 and have no other underlying illnesses. Ideally the younger you are the less likely you are to get seriously ill from COVID19.

Second, are you meeting someone that is under 40 who have no other underlying health problems? Again, if you have a mild case, you are less likely to injure your new friend if they are younger and healthy.

Third, given that you are likely closing interacting with HX people, are you severely limiting your interactions with everyone else? At the very least this means

- wearing a mask at all times when you go outside your home
- minimize going out of home at all, get delivery when possible
- no extra activities, no parties, no group meetings

And all the above strict quarantine measures apply to all members of your household.

Good luck!

One last thing...

Everyone in your household (for everyone meeting up) should be under 40 and healthy as well.

First rule of Fight Club ^, dude.

Stay safe and stay healthy and most importantly stay sane.

My neighbors are already having issues with the last, so I know from first hand witnessing that the stress can get to you.

Even with the criteria the OP gives, I'd wait until the number of cases goes down.

Some of these ladies don't have a choice, a hungry family will make you do desperate things.

I watch my hummingbirds on a cold and rainy day and they are still coming to the feeders because hunger trumps cold and wet.

It's great to have a choice.

Please continue social distancing when seeing someone. Be safe and follow CDC guidelines as shown in the picture. Both where masks and shower before and after. All fun does not have to stop and life must go on for now. Help the economy.

Vaccine is needed fir most people. Social distancing with COVID may not help much unless not social at all. The anti-body tests may be answer for people who may go social.

HX has a high risk population, even if you're not meeting providers.

I am guessing that a lot of members fall in the risk groups described in the article.

Not exactly a surprise if you've been following the news, but it provides some interesting data.

The U.S. coronavirus death toll reached 4,591 in 24 hours on Thursday, nearly doubling the previous single-day record.

Those with high blood pressure are at a greater risk for Covid-19. (second link below)

High blood pressure is also tightly correlated with age and obesity.

If you have all three, you damn well better hope you don't get the virus.

It should also be noted that young, non-obese females are probably more likely to be asymptomatic carriers.

People should read between the lines on that for what it is worth.
