Fuck Them..... All I get is my neighbor’s mail and junk mail. I don’t know who is actually getting my mail, but they can keep it.
|
|
The postal service employees are still working.
Getting paid.
They're like cockroaches... Will be here long after others are decomposing.
|

I was hoping post office be getting funds.
I hope they go on strike
And stop sending me stupid grocery store mailers that is like a marketing tactic from 1955 SMH
GROCERY STORE MAILER= DIDNT READ EVER IF READ NEVER WENT = WASTE

I was wondering if they were gonna band licking envelopes
FAUCI didn't think bout that 1
Poor mail man picking up covid licked letters!!! For sure!!!!

Why is expecting USPS to raise rates for internet company shipping a "false claim" ?
Just make those internet fuckers ship their own stuff... WTF they are taking advantage of the USPS.
Trump's been telling them to do it for over a year now but USPS is like stagnant changing anything.
Another clear example of a service that should be privatized and not be a govt bureaucracy.
DEM's keep trying to add all kinds of shit to this COVID-19 business relief that they cant push through the Senate on any other normal day. Total cock blockers

the problem with the post office finances is multi faceted.
1. they gave a sweet heart deal to amazon to deliver all prime deliveries the last mile SAME DAY no matter what time it gets to USPS.
2. they gave a similar deal to UPS.
3. they're losing their ass on both deals because what they're being paid is less than their hourly costs.
4. they've been losing money for decades due to gross mismanagement.
5. for the last 25 years, they've continually lost more and more traditional market share due to year over year increases of traditional mail, letters, documents, etc., are more and more being sent, certified, and notarized via email and over the internet.
the first things that need to be fixed are the deals with amazon and UPS need to be renegotiated and / or scrapped. Also, they need to out market and out service ups, fedex, and the others.
there are other things that need to be done, but the union wages are bleeding them and need to be reigned in as well

The postal service loses money for two reasons. First Congress makes it pre-pay its pension liabilities, which no other company in America does, and second they make the postal service maintain unprofitable routes in rural America.
|
|
OK here is a part of the problem. Anyone know of any company anywhere who is required to fund employee Health Care and Retirement 75 years into the future? The Post Office has been sending $5 BILLION a quarter, $20 BILLION a year to the US Treasury for an IOU. This was begun by George Bush (the second) to help pay for all the wars he managed to involve the US in. This is fact ladies and gentlemen. They are still giving money away to pay for Iraq and Afganistan. What Departments of the US government take in cash? The National Parks, Post Office, not too many. No politicians ever mention this because it is ( and was ) a stupid idea. They want to take it private anyway. What better incentive for private investment, NO HEALTH CARE COSTS AND NO RETIREMENT COSTS for 75 years.
|
|
Let the Postal service die. They needed to change 2 decades ago. There is no reason to have mail delivered 6 days a week. Let the private sector take over..
|
|
Currently, employees over 60 are deemed at risk regardless of health, so get paid to sit home.
I'm already sitting home, can i get paid?
|
|
And, for you idiots posting about prefunding obligations. Maybe you should educate yourself about the problem before you spout off some headline you read somewhere.
In 2006, they were forced to start funding because they were so far behind. Not a trillion dollars behind like CA, but far enough.
To the USPS' credit, theyve tried to close some locations but screaming congressmen and constituents make it unlikely.
|
|
I generally prefer USPS over Fed Ex and UPS for any type of packages.
|

Trump wants the P.O. to fail so that mail-in voting is unfeasible for the November election. This is a voter suppression tactic. He is fucking over postal workers, not to mention our democracy, to save his fat orange ass.

To all the PhD's above:
How about the Department of Defense?
Should it be required to make a profit?
(Lamar: please refrain from waking up the know-it-all's)

F Trump & F the GOP. The is the answer to all our problems. Vote Blue.

Dear Deep, did you in fact work at the Post Office, were you involved in Union Activites and know more than the headlines you read? Private sector UPS, FedEx salaries are 15% higher than Postal Workers make. DC Management called them "glorified Pizza Delivery Drivers". Yet how many parcels (pieces) does an average UPS driver deliver in a day? Postal Workers deliver thousands of individual pieces of addressed mail in an 8 hour shift. Error rates are equal, parcels go to the wrong numbers from both UPS and FedEX. Walking, pivoting to the right, jumping in and out of vehicles takes a toll on the human body.

LOL, so it's ok to bail out the airline and cruise ship industries and still honor DoD contracts, pay penalties for lack of inmates occupying for profit prison systems, and not help out a system that caters to many citizens in ways that are often cheaper and more accessible to the USA in general.
Old dumb fucks, all of you! Lol.
Think about the sort of shit the USPS handles or we'd lose out on like:
-Losing the ability to ship globally
-The only way for civilians to send our troops mail and care packages
-Mail-in prescriptions
-A giant ass number of retailers who rely on shared UPS/USPS (SurePost) services to get packages delivered to places UPS can't or won't go to.
It's also used to fulfill legal obligations from banks, manufacturers (is Warranty and Recalls), etc
The USPS shutting down would be the utter collapse of the current eCommerce system. The price difference between USPS services and others is gigantic and I guarantee you that you aren't going to be willing to pay $500 or more a year for Amazon Prime.
Someone made mention that routes should be consolidated, but that is kind of the point with a govt. system. It's not for profit, it's for the people.
Everything is so financially driven that you all see the tax burden on a bloated system as awful but newflash dumbasses, we are all already getting bent over and taking it raw for corporate entities and speculators that are whining because they fukked up. Why do we have to account for that?
ALSO, and this is the most hilarious part, >Republican< President George 'Dubya' Bush signed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act , that shit that makes no sense that I see a few of you complaining about. Yeah that dumbass did that.

"To all the PhD's above: "
LOL, It's PhDs... Just saying..

I cant wait to pay $15 to FedEx to send a letter to a rural area. USPS can do it for $0.55 but the private sector does no wrong!
Don't forget that the USPS delivers to areas that UPS/FedEx do not go to.
It makes sense to bail out the airlines and the fucking non american cruise industry but not the USPS? Stop the world, I wanna get off.
|
|
Postal service is vital for the American economy, our defense, and business. The US continues to act like a backwards banana republic. Of course the USPS shoukd be helped, before airlines, cruise lines, ...
It may well be another crime by Trump. He knows he can't win without cheating so is getting pretty f'n desperate.
As for whoever said you can't fix things by throwing money at them-- that's hilarious. Often that is exactly what is needed. Congress and Fed us doing that now, because it works. Next the rich need to pony up.. we won't reopen until the top 1% start sharing.
It's funny how rich people say throwing money at them will fix everything and it never does. But give money to people who need irt and they yell and protest. Because it can get people out of debt and slavery...

I'm gonna guess this was addressed to me by I'maFoolAllAround?

WTF are you even trying to say with that gibberish?
I never said don't help out the USPS, did you see that anywhere in my post? I simply refuted the notion about pre-funding obligations being the reason for the USPS losses. I even gave them credit for trying to cut some money losing operations but they were stymied.
As to UnhappyGuy, a known short bus 'tard. You'll find out in the not too distant future what happens when you throw money at every problem. We are Greece and they got bailed out by the EU. There is no one who can bail us out. We will have 3 choices:
1. Raise taxes on everybody, even if you took ALL the billionaires money, it would only cover about 1/8th of our debt
2. Print money, say hello to Zimbabwe, you'll be carrying around trillion dollar bills to buy your TP
3. Default
You choose, idiot

Perhaps certain agencies are for the public benefit. Not to make a profit. Simply public service.
I agree that some of Trumps attacks on the PO is to undermine possible vote by MAIL

#1. The USPS is mandated in the Constitution
#2. The USPS is more effective & successful & affordable than any other national postal service in the world.
#3. Privatizing the USPS is not only unconstitutional, but it is also a stupid idea as it will raise the cost exponentially.
#4. Trump is advocating for saving the Cruise industry, but not the USPS. None of the major cruise lines fly American flags, which means they don't pay US taxes, don't adhere to US laws and don't protect AMERICAN workers under worker's protections as mandated by US laws. So why on God's green Earth would we bail them out?? Let the country whose flag they fly bail them out.
#5. I guarantee you use the USPS more frequently than any cruise line. The disappearance of the USPS would significantly impact your life while the disappearance of the cruise industry would not.
#6. People only want the USPS to die because they're partisan hacks who are repeating a talking point of which they had no opinion two weeks ago until they got their marching orders from Fox.
#7. I goddamned wish everyone would stop being stupid. It's killing people at this point.
Carry on.

What he said.
Also, When I was in the Army, mail call was thing highlight of the day/week/month.

I'm guessing nowadays the Military either has Email Call, or Pornhub Fap. Whatever warms up their rain-soaked foxhole.

“I cant wait to pay $15 to FedEx to send a letter to a rural area. USPS can do it for $0.55...”
I think the point is USPS can’t do it for $0.55, yet they continue to do it anyway. It’s a horrendous business model.
Why should the government send a driver 3 miles down a dirt road because Some Ted Kaczynski wants to build bombs and eat varmints in some shack in the woods. Get in your damn horseless carriage and get your mail.
Every address gets a P.O. Box... you pick up your own damn mail. You pay an extra fee to have it delivered to your house. Elderly and handicapped can apply for an exclusion.
|
|
Wow this is exactly what is wrong with America, and what will need to change in the next few weeks or months to get recovery and reopening.
Some of the comments here are parroting obsolete failed talking points from failed right wing economics. Call it what you will trickle down, supply-side, or pretend the rich will invest in growth.
Whatever the name, it has always failed. 100%. People have stopped falling for that scam.
The worst idea is that somehow everything can be measured in money. It can't.
Or the idea a business is only successful if making a profit on every transaction. That is not how it works, especially for infrastructure things like mail. Some pretty ill-informed ideas here about business and economy.
There is this stupid, dangerous idea that giving money to the rich is good and giving it to everyone else is bad.
Fact is, rich do nothing good with it. Less rich people spend it and stimulate the economy.
Trump has been behind government handouts of trillions to the wrong people--not creating jobs or infrastructure or raising interest rates. Time to take it back--we reopen only after the billionaires have shared their riches with everyone else...

|
"Elderly and handicapped can apply for an exclusion."
Great idea.
More postal employees needed to process paperwork.
To hell with the handicapped; they can find someone to help them do the paper work.

"mail three days a week = huge cost savings"
------------------------------------------------------------------
And where do you suggest the mail be stored on days when it is not delivered?
Watch the video and tell us where you see empty space to store mail for an additional day.
And what would the employees be doing on days the mail is not delivered?
Thanks for playing.
Try again.
|
|
Dilbert, no cost savings to be had! The routes would need to be cut in half to handle the volume of mail, twice the mailmen. Or 3, 16 hour days. Two books "How the Post Office Created America" by Winifred Gallagher. Second, " Neither Snow nor Rain" by Devin Leonard. At 300 pages each, both will tell you much about the mail and The United States.

No let these idiots be uninformed. Besides I'm sure they are patting themselves on the back and self congratulating from all the bootstrapping they did to get where they are now, and you know, not appreciating the government and economic systems they took advantage of that at are shadows of their former selves while still telling everyone else to fuck off since they got theirs.
I'm also sure it's my generation's fault they didn't have the willpower to force themselves out of a vagina at a better time period like the 50's and 60's to take advantage of things and ruin it for the rest of us like you all have

#2. The USPS is more effective & successful & affordable than any other national postal service in the world.
#3. Privatizing the USPS is not only unconstitutional, but it is also a stupid idea as it will raise the cost exponentially. "
Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, known as the Postal Clause or the Postal Power, empowers Congress "To establish Post Offices and Post Roads".[1]
#1 EMPOWERS Congress, does not mandate. Congress can change the rules any time they like
#2 There is literally no way to measure #2
#3 Privatization would NOT be unconstitutional, but it might be unwise
No private company would allow money losing offices and routes to stay open long
If you want, you might consider it a regulated utility
That doesn't mean they shouldn't look for cost savings if possible
Lastly, not a good idea to call other people stupid right after you post some poorly researched stupid stuff
Just saying
|

You COULD measure #2.
You just need to figure out wtf that even means first

Unhappy, just stop, lol
You expose your utter lack of education and real world application of knowledge every time you post.

How fucking stupid are you?
Forget right wing/left wing and just generate a list of all the companies you use on a daily basis. Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Ebay, Google, Apple......there's 1000 you don't even know and every one of them started with an idea, then a venture capitalist or private angel provided the funding, then maybe a public IPO. The healthcare startups are the ones that make the breakthroughs every day that keep short bus riding retards like you alive.............unfortunately.
These rich people-funded companies provide more wealth for everybody thru 401k's and pensions, more jobs, more human connection and utility than YOU ever could in a million of your useless whining years.

“Or the idea a business is only successful if making a profit on every transaction.”
You my friend are making an argument on a point that NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON is making.
Get off your high “intrinsic value” horse. I know, you feel morally superior because you aren’t “the rich.” And you care about “important things” not money. Whatever.
The world is changing. Unwillingness to CONSIDER that the USPS should change... or might even become obsolete shows a lack of foresight or vision for the future.
Go back to working in the buggy whip factory while the world moves on without you.
And for the genius who can’t figure out that the 3 day a week suggestion would mean the mail would only come to each address 3 days a week but the post office could still actually deliver mail 6 days a week.... I’m sorry you have ZERO problem solving/ reasoning skills.
Fuckin Goober! You reduce your delivery force by at least 40%. That is a shitload of savings in payroll, benefit obligations and equipment.
Hmmmm.... let’s see ... how could that impossible task actually work? Maybe a mail carrier would come to my neighborhood on Monday, Wednesday and Friday... and to the next neighborhood over on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I’m sure someone has had to figure out delivery routes and schedules before. Fuck! Ford Lincoln Mercury did it in the Postman... and he was just a guy with a patch on his sleeve.
Fuckin Goober! You reduce your delivery force by at least 40%. That is a shitload of savings in payroll, benefit obligations and equipment.
I’m not saying that’s the answer.... I’m just saying you can’t ridicule an idea out of hand if you have zero understanding of the idea... and no ability to think it through.
There is a way to solve the problem... you just can’t be so stuck in your thinking you refuse to consider all of the possibilities.
|
|
“we reopen only after the billionaires have shared their riches with everyone else...”
Sorry bro. You are going to have to come up with a an idea or come up with a product or service that adds value. I am sure you are good looking and charming when you aren’t whining about your perceived injustices of the world.... but they aren’t going to get you a handout from people who are creative, willing to take risks and actually build something.

It's unfortunate that the partisan mud slinging is still a thing even in the time of a pandemic like the one we are currently living thorough.
We all have differences, but we are more alike than we might realize.
It's times like this one that we need each other more than ever. Red,Blue,Green, etc. We are all trying to get through this at the same time.
Will we, (and by we I mean the collective, not necessarily a question that can be answered here) ever come back to the table and have meaningful discussions trying to solve the big problems that plague the world today? Instead of the constant screaming and hate?
|
|
It seems liberals are arguing that "the USPS is here, it's in the Constitution, dont try to change that, it cant possibly be any better"
So if theres a govt entity that provides a service that is far from sustainable why is it so sacrilegious to put the operations under a microscope and try to improve things ? Really
No body is saying shut it down... just make changes in a more profitable direction... what ever that may be.
|
|
"It seems to be the low-intelligence frequent posters who think everyone else is an idiot."
Often it's the low volume posters who have nothing of interest to say that are the idiots. Did you add anything of value to the discussion?
No?
Then don't post
|
|
Gr8.... You are the one who thought a 3x a week mail delivery system meant the post office would be closed the rest of the time
And mail storage is an insurmountable problem.
And then... had the nerve to type.... “Thanks for playing.” As if you pointed out something that ended the game.
OMFG!!! You are the best!
Please don’t listen to Balls. Keep posting! There are few things more entertaining than a dipshit who can’t think on a straight line calling people “unintelligent.”
Please, continue to regale us with your insightful problem solving and most excellent wit.
