I'm sure there will be extensions of some sort. Otherwise, we're going to see number of cases go up again.
If we don't get back to work ASAP, the damage to the economy will worse than
just losing lives. The cure may be worse than the disease.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I've heard that there are plenty of small businesses that are already bankrupt
and will not open regardless of the stimulus.
One has to wonder if the shutdown by the govt was the only solution.
I'm under the impression from watching the liberal news that they would
like the shutdown to cause a collapse of the US economy.
They don't seem to be routing for the American people.
They want to point the finger at Trump for anything that goes wrong.
Has anyone noticed that flu and pneumonia deaths are non existent nowadays? Everyone’s dying of CV?
Here is a theory I have. If nobody ever drove cars again, then nobody would die in a car accident. I say ban all motor vehicles, as they are obviously a pandemic as well.
I wouldn't be surprised it OC decides to extend to May 15th soon as well.
May 10 is my prediction. Curve is flat+7 days.

This is all garbage. No one wants a collapse of the economy. No one is “rooting against” anybody. We are all rooting for the American people and for human life. That’s why we didn’t want to see two million Americans dead by August if we absolutely did nothing about COVID-19.
"That’s why we didn’t want to see two million Americans dead by August"
Worst case scenario from a flawed model. Most likely was never very accurate but it served the purpose of the NYC media complex and certain politicians.
@Night-rider I do agree that people are not rooting for anything other than to pull out of this as soon as possible and get back to work..
However if you watch Liberal media you can see a typical focus in alot of reporting along the lines of "this is all Trumps fault because..." and "how dare Trump put reviving the economy above the loss of more lives"
You should have seen Don Lemon go on and on a few days ago on CNN. It was pathetic

if you think this virus scare is overblown and not worth the sacrifices to our freedom, economy and health(it is unhealthy to stay inside and to isolate from each other). Lets start going outside, lets get back to work You want to be a true rebel. An American who values freedom and are willing to fight for it. This is the time to fight to back. Go outside, go back to work. Don't wear the mask.

Is it my imagination, or didn't FOX "News" constantly go after President Obama find ing every which way to point blame at him for everything (when Moscow Mitch and Paul Ryan controlled Congress, shutting down the government several times and "playing" like they actually gave a conservative shit about the budget deficits? So now its wrong to point out that the Orange Bufffoon really is a Buffoon? SMH

I dont do anything newsome says, i hate him and his dad jerry.
Be nice to have the maney jerry wasted on his train to nowhere.

OC's health orders, in general, have been more restrictive than LA's.
If that's the case, the LA guys will drive down to the OC for pussy, LA girls will set up shop in Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Anaheim, and start a second wave of infection in OC.
Then when LA opens, the reverse.
LA guys don't need a pandemic to drive down to OC.
“The cure may be worse than the disease.”
For those who live.
I’m guessing those on ventilators would disagree.
Everybody votes for the economy until it’s their mom, dad, nana or grampa who can’t breat or get a hospital bed.
"Worst case scenario from a flawed model. Most likely was never very accurate..."
Multiple independent models from independent respectable sources came up with this. In fact, the math is simple. I'll spell it out here. The population of the United States is 327,000,000. Say 60% of the population gets the virus, and empirically speaking, the death rate from Coronavirus has been roughly 1%:
327,000,000 people X 0.6 get it X 0.01 die from it = 2 million people die from it.
That's if we did absolutely nothing. The math isn't that hard.
In fact, that's just the death toll from the virus. I didn't include people dying in the hospitals because they would be way overcrowded.
It's still possible it could happen. For example, if we all went back to life before COVID-19 as if nothing happened after this latest epidemic, it would happen. It's not like the virus is gone, folks.
Good old humanity and "it's not going to happen to me thinking."
Interesting thing about Influenza, it is still around still getting tracked...just not being noticed--pretty much every shred of news is about the corona virus. I think if social distancing sticks around long enough it might have a delayed effect on seasonal cold and flu. One the quarantine is over you might see some spike in both of those.
A shutdown is unsustainable. We'll be going back to work sooner than later.
Otherwise, we'll be facing a depression and everyone's quality of life will be
greatly diminished.
It appears that the restaurant industry has been destroyed and it will be
interesting to see how the CA govt plan to revive small businesses.
Also CA has lost plenty of revenue with most businesses closed.
How are they going to recoup those losses?
"Multiple independent models from independent respectable sources came up with this."
Bullshit
One model from the UK is what we based our decision making on.
Nobody truly knows the death rate because NOBODY truly knows the infection rate.
And, Faucci's an idiot to think we can go a couple more months like this
There is a very real probability that it was here as far back as November so.........
NO, the numbers are not as simple as you think they are.
GIGO
Garbage In, Garbage Out

All I know is I was really sick around Thanksgiving. Was definitely coughing for 3 weeks. For all I know, it could have been Corona virus that I was suffering from.
Take comfort in knowing that rich celebs will be telling us from the comfort of their million dollar homes that we'll all get though this.
they have a roof over their head and plenty to eat.
In 5 weeks, LA County will extend another 5 weeks 😂
^ exactly!
The WH might extend quarantine another month. Then what, another 2T stimulus packages? The govt will just turn on the printer and devalue the US dollar.
the ones who know how to yap will be getting pussy.
Fuck China! Fucking backwards country with their wet markets. Mother fuckers eat bats and rats.
Fucking dip shits got the whole world fucked up. And Fuck Trump too!
@ DeeLopes I 100 percent agree with you . Fuck China !! A electrician school I was attending shut down because of this virus . . Who knows when this shit will return to normal , if ever .
Some of you fucks need to get off this planet, so hoping this virus takes more of y'all with it 👍🏽
Including you dip shit ^

@818_cum Sorry to hear, man. The electrical union in LA is a great alternative. Hope you are able to recover your tuition.

I don’t hear anyone talking about what’s going to happen in 9-10 months when Covid-19 comes back around the world. We are still dealing with H1N1 for Christ sake. These coronavirus never go away they circle the globe endlessly. If we don’t have a vaccine by then what are the dip shit scientists gonna tell us we need to isolate again?
Scientist are good for explaining the science but they shouldn’t be making decisions for society. There is no proof that Covid-19 is any more fatal than the flu. Just look at the numbers.... that’s the proof.
“One model from the UK is what we based our decision making on. “
Bullshit. There were other models saying the same thing. I know because I worked on one of them. The UK model just got the most attention.
Mortality rate could be lower. Ok. So only a million people dead, and that’s just from the virus, not including how many would die because they didn’t get adequate hospital care.
The only way we’d really know is if we just did the experiment. Let’s do nothing and see how many people are dead by September 1st. You want to take that chance with YOUR family, hotshot?!?
The most important question to ask now is what do we need to do to get people back to work, to open schools, to open clubs and beaches AND keep the numbers of infectious below a certain level? How comprehensive does testing need to be to help make this happen? This is a question I’m actively working on in my modeling.
My point is biologists aren’t ignoring the importance of getting our economy working again.
^ same with ecologist
as our wildlife is suffering.
I had to feed the seagulls waiting in the trash my del taco french fries cause they look desperate.
noone is out
noone is throwing food in the trash.
or even literring
The reduction of emissions globally has seen an improved impact from the social distancing with the pandemic
however, the green house gas effect, and global warming is still on the rise.
Disease will be around, and even more so in our climatic weather. Just breeding grounds for all sorts of things in wildlife, and in live stock. and on surfaces for human contraction, along with synthetic, and processed foods, and foods thats bad for our body that cause disease. etc
Currently, Koalas are dying.... its very sad.
its all sad.
im sad.
economically... biologist --everyone is realist.... business needs to open.
At the same time.
Humanity/Society needed to take a deeper look at itself, and the planet, and its consumption.
Not having the ability to go and purchase non-essential items at the Mall ETC
is going to impact consumer behaviors including retail, and food...
Along with hospitality.. People will realize here in the USA why travel, far when its all in your backyard - if you only stopped and looked.
Who knows... A miracle can happen any minute... I hope for longevity as a person, a nation, a planet.
This is not going to whip out the human population.

The UK model got the most press cause that's what they used as the basis for their decision making process regardless what you happen to be working on. All. I'm saying is what you said above, use testing and tracking to get us all back to work in some fashion.
Are you upset at all about the 1 million deaths every year from malaria? Why not? Because you don't know them? The reality is that we accept a certain numbers of deaths all the time. 40,000 per year autos, 200,000+ per year lung cancer, etc etc etc
What's up with DR88, lol?
@D Rock. My immune system can handle Covid-19. I’m not that worried about it.
You seem like the soft liberal type tho 😭
An effective vaccine or an effective treatment will turn things around dramatically. A reliable and universally available test for antibodies will make a lesser difference.
Til then all we have to do is stay alive.
I don't know, man. There's so much fighting going on on these blogs that staying alive through Covid doesn't mean you won't still be killed by Blog-o-cidal Maniacs.

@DLopes political leanings have nothing to do with pointing out the fact that you're a piece of shit 👍🏽 hope you croak, here's to wishful thinking.🤞🏽

You two should get a room
Or maybe a cage
And have a death match

virus hysteria has goal to crush this economy and its doing a great job.. no one dies from the virus they die with the virus.. I work with seniors and few my clients got tested positive and doing just fine.. i haven't heard any my clients in a media hyped busy hospitals..
dont focus so much on the virus focus on how to fight this global scam

@GinaGalaxy...Thank you. Now, please give us an update on the Puzzle.

I'm very aware of the plague malaria is. I've done research on Plasmodium falciparum, the organism that causes malaria in humans. The difference is the millions of deaths don't hit close to home, as they are probably not going to end up being your parents or your grandparents, so they're not going to have the same impact as millions of deaths here in the U.S.
My point exactly.
There's nothing special about humans in the US compared to anywhere else.
There's nothing special about your family or mine except your/my connection to them
Years of economic progress wiped out in weeks
Plenty of experts disagree with Neal Ferguson's original report at Imperial College London and said
"Ferguson's new evidence prompted critics to pan his initial "doomsday" study as alarmist."
It should have been handled in a different way.
Ferguson's model is extremely well respected. It's an elaborate model that was used to make strategies for containing H5N1 in Southeast Asia back in 2005 or for containing a hypothetical influenza pandemic in Great Britain back in 2006. It's gotten Ferguson a lot of articles in top science journals like Nature. It may not be perfect, but it's probably the best we have. Definitely the most elaborate and data-driven model that I know of.
