My letter carrier got his today, direct deposit.

Snail mailed the 2018 return, so no word on when that may come. I'm not giving banking info even through all the service has to do is send out the Levy and Seizure notice and see who coughs up your money.
Unemployment ? Well that is a two sided story. Registration is complete as an employee, but on the 28th the EDD is going online with another site for Gig workers to get the 600 which is retro'ed to 3/30. By the time they get around to paying me, that will be another 2,400 on top of the Fed money.
I'm going to be exhausted a week later.

sounds like a huge fucking pain with a little bit of stress layered on it.

I have clients who received their stimulus checks on Wed.
These were people who had previously filed tax returns in 2018 or 2019.
Two clients who filed within the past month are still waiting.
My daughter and her husband are still waiting.
I have one client who was laid off on Mar 25th will receive his weekly benefit + $600
for the week ended April 4th. That's more than he would have gotten weekly for working.
The first wave of stimulus checks are going to people who filed tax returns in 2018 or 2019
and have direct deposit.
The next wave will go to those on Soc Sec, SSDis, and SSI. Probably next week.
In CA, those on welfare will get an increase, unless they are at the max, already.
I can't understand why those on SS or welfare should get more money.
The haven't really been impacted by the shutdown.
Also most of the money should really go to the small business owners
who employ all these people who were laid off. Many will probably go
bankrupt if the shutdown is not lifted soon.
I've heard many are already bankrupt and won't be able to reopen. Sad!

@AFMadness, my sister may qualify for the other program that EDD is setting up.
That's for the self employed and people whose UI benefits have expired.
It probably won't be up until next month.

You should be able to check your stimulus check status:
Go to the IRS website (link is below).
Click on Get My Payment and/or Get Your Refund Status. Full disclosure: I do not qualify for a stimulus check, so I have not tried it. But perhaps someone who does qualify can try the IRS website and let us know how it goes. Good luck!

website is worthless, tried it at least 8 times and keep getting locked out message
|
|
Interesting information
"Millions of Americans could lose stimulus payments to debt collectors"
|
|
Went to the IRS site and it put me on hold for a few minutes. Then I was able to check status. The site had no info for me as I receive an SSA 1099. Looks like they are still working on that with the SSA.

@DrBoogie. The Uber/Lyft drivers on there forum are all over this. And so is the drivers-united , a Union site putting out instructions on how to file. And instructions for the drivers to get there weekly totals in the drivers app. or online cause each is different, as I do not expect Lyft nor Uber to give up that info to EDD without a court order. However, even the EDD considers us drivers as employees ever since AB5 became effective 1/1/2020. It's quite a mess actually. So I revised a spread sheet to show quarterly earnings and snail mailed it and U/L summary of earnings to the EDD. So all we can do is sit and play clock watcher.
Now on to the latest Crane video...
