Get a higher rate hotel. They don't question a thing.
|

They can't stop guests. Not sure what OP is talking about.

@FunsizedMella, does the hotel staff ask your visitors where they are going?

It would make sense that all major Orange County hotels would have received an email from the Orange County health department saying something like this: The statewide stay-at-home order is in effect, and it is up to hotels to prevent their guests from spreading COVID-19 by prohibiting them from being visited in their rooms by anyone.
A corporate hotel is like a cruise ship on land. Cruise ship companies are starting to get sued for having allowed COVID-19 to spread aboard ship.
Actually, now that I think about it, a corporation like Hilton would not need an email from the health department. Corporate headquarters would be asking themselves something like this: Can you imagine the tens of millions of dollars that we will pay in lawsuits if we were to allow guests to come down for breakfast and someone were to spread COVID-19 to other guests and some of those guests were to die of COVID-19?

But since they claim it takes 5 to 6 days before symtoms to first show up. That would be hard to prove right ?

Depending on the hotel, the elevator might be locked down to access any floors without swiping your keycard to activate the buttons.
Can't speak to OC hotels, but many vegas places (Venitian and sister hotels) you can't even get into the elevator lobby without passing through both keycard swipe, AND security personell sitting there......... that is when they were open for business ;-)

I went to a Sheraton in SD
Signs on all side door access saying due to covid
No unregistered guest allowed.
Everyone on property must enter through the front door
No un registered guest. It was like on 8 doors around the building.
Tried to park on the side.. Well I did couldn't enter or exit the door after I got my room from the side.
The front desk jumped out at me when I walked in.
They were dead.. like 6 cars.
Kind of hard to keep having friends come by
Don't ya think.
After this the Marriot same thing accept locked front door. And they unlocked the front door when u walked up.

Some said they can't stop guest.
Yes they can.

La Quinta in La Palma allows guests... but the doors don't auto-open from the outside. The desk as to let them in, and they won't if you're not checking in.
However, anyone with a room is allowed to come down to accept a guest and take them back to the room.
I'd have to go with some other statements, though, get a place with doors/rooms not separated by a lobby and/or elevator.

This happened to me in Pasadena so whenever someone was combing just told them to meet me down by the smoking area and I handed them the extra key and told them the room number . Then they would go up and shortly behind them I would go up. This way they had the key to open the front and get to the room and I was pretty much right behind.

Last time I went to an Anaheim hotel, they shut off the automatic sliding doors to the lobby and you had to scan a hotel room key to get in. Unbelievable. But after a slick handoff of a key card outside, the hotel staff doesnt bother you once you get inside. Or you just pretend that youre making a delivery.
