My COVID-19 was nothing dramatic. I was out sick with a cold for one and one-half weeks. My temperature was elevated one degree, which did not even count as a fever. I had some body aches. I had some GI tract discomfort. I had to lay around. The important part is that It never went into my lungs. I never had a dry cough. (If anyone is going to have trouble with their lungs, that part of COVID-19 starts on day 9.)

Ummm, Nigel....in a previous blog you mentioned that you could feel the virus attacking your lungs. Now you're saying it didn't. Please clarify...

This study shares some problems with the Santa Clara so-called study.
Wait for the peer review before you run with the headline.

The virus has an affinity for certain tissues including upper lungs, intestinal lining, and (oddly enough) the tongue. I guess that I felt the virus in those organs, but it never got too bad. For example, I felt the virus in my intestines, but I did not have diarrhea.

Was your doctor measuring the progression? Or were you self-diagnosing?

With the study by USC with LA Health Department ( confirmed by a separate Stanford study) say that 40 to 80 times more widely spread.
With same amount of confirmed cases.
Meaning this is less deadly than influenza.
So
When can we open up these restrictions.? Or do we have to have our politicians point fingers for more businesses to fail?

If the UCLA and Santa Clara studies are confirmed, then they could definitely inform our strategies moving forward.
However, I think it's still a mistake to compare C-19 with the flu. Irrespective of the actual number of people infected, the absolute number of deaths is still several times greater than the flu on a per-day basis. Furthermore, whereas more than half the country is routinely vaccinated against the flu, NO ONE has been vaccinated against C-19.
The best we can realistically hope for is that we can manage this virus so that it "only" kills a hundred thousand or so people a year until a vaccine is widely available. That's not an appealing tradeoff for avoiding another Great Depression, but we might have to swallow hard and accept the reality.
BTW, a vaccine is definitely not a sure thing. If you recall, there were high hopes for developing an HIV vaccine back in the 90's, and here we are 20-something years later and there's still nothing better than a cover for protecting yourself.
