I've had to dig around several news sources to get the whole press conference. What he did make are some really naive suggestions but nothing directing the public to try it. "Maybe we can look into that."
I'm trying to be impartial about it as well, so reviewing a couple more times I looked for sarcasm and either he's got humor so dry I couldn't sense it. Trump uses sarcasm with a slight scowl, didn't see that there; this was him trying to be helpful...in a field he knows zero about.
I did like his comment "I'm not a doctor but I'm a person who has a good you know what"
Brain? No.
I'm not a fan of both sides of the political spectrum but you gotta make do with what you've got running the country.

Recent info has revealed that there are fringe groups and churches that have been promoting bleach and disenfectants as a way to cure cancer, autism and now covid-19. I believe the group is called Genesis II and has actually marketed it! The most revealing thing is that two of its leaders have contacted the Trump administration about this cure. This was done shortly before Trump came out recently saying this could possibly be a cure. So it is likely his remarks were no accident and were not said sarcastically.

Exactly correct. He suggested researching the potential benefits that disinfectants can have if injected into the body for the purpose of cleaning the lungs.

Given that Trump is president and had an 8 year TV run, he must not be a complete idiot.
As a neutral observer, I'd describe him as a venal narcissist with a dysfunctional personality.
In the 30 years I've been aware of him, i find him distasteful and off-putting.
BUT, I can understand that there is a large % of our electorate so completely disgusted by the progressive agenda and the go along conservatives, that they were and are willing to support a defective personality so long as he appears to be blowing up the bureaucracy and shredding the standard play book.
Didn't vote for him, never would, but anybody was better than the alternative so I get how he got there. It's too painful to watch or listen to him.....so I don't.

Trump and Bush were sons of very rich families. Both got bailed out everytime they fucked up. Which from what I've read, was often. They were not help accountable. They were both terrible students. Got into prestigious colleges because of daddy. And both dragged the country down. Both avoided military service. Yes Bush joined the national guard, but basically went AWOL. We know about trumps multiple bone spurs.
Clinton and Obama did not come from rich families. They earned what they accomplished.

The Covid-19 task force is probably looking at every possible answer, even the crazy ones. And Trump is hearing possible solutions, not saying we should jump on them, but saying they are interesting.
UVC light has been explored for several years to kill various airborne viral molecules. It is also being used to make the PPE last longer by exposing the used N95 masks to UVC light and getting a second wearing of the PPE.

No, he said it as the common man understands it. House hold disinfectants into the body. No real medical context from alternative treatments.
Why? Because when he was pressed on the issue the following day, he said he said it because he was being sarcastic and wanted to see what the press would do.
