When states are allowing liquor stores to remain open as ESSENTIAL businesses (oh that's right, they collect a whole lot of taxes on that alcohol) but won't open a park or a beach.....that makes no sense....

Since I deal with all the companies crane listed in my line of work, all you have to do is google those companies to see posts on their workers having COVID19 and stores or warehouses closing. When you google a couple of them, it helps to spell them correctly. It’s Kroger and Costco.

Hoax... nope

Overblown... maybe

We will never know how bad it could have been or would have been.

It’s easy to criticize on the Macro level... but when you get down to the micro...

Individuals, families, parents and grand parents... what are those lives worth?

If you owned a business... would you shut it down if it would allow your mother or father to live another 10 years?

I honestly don’t know how to measure this on that level.

As long as it is just numbers, 60,000 dead in 2 1/2 months vs wrecking the economy... SAVE THE ECONOMY!

When it’s people I love... SAVE MY FAMILY!

Mrpussylover, I'm not sure why you're so angry about all this, but comparing Covid to the flu doesn't even make sense. The flu has a vaccine which is probably the biggest difference. As far as the numbers that are quoted by CDC and Trump, those 60,000 to 80,000 dead every year by the flu doesn't even make sense. Think about it just from a common sense perspective. Officials are burying people in public parks, stacking them up in morgue corridors, and filling up the back of U-Haul trailers. This is all in the news right now and we're at roughly 60,000 deaths. If we had 60,000 - 80, 000 deaths annually from the flu, we would be hearing horror stories like this every year. The actual number, not the extrapolated number the CDC is pushing, is much much lower. I'm not saying it's not dangerous, but it's nowhere near as dangerous as Covid is.
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/comparing-covid-19-deaths-to-flu-deaths-is-like-comparing-apples-to-oranges/

Additionally there's no vaccine. We did not have a vaccine for SARS or H1N1 either I believe. However, there were no asymptomatic carriers there either. If you were sick, you and everyone else knew it. So it was more easily contained.

The fact that it seems you obviously don't want to wear a mask and think that this is overblown should be a warning bell to sthe ladies here.

LOL @ the flu has a vaccine! It works maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the time due to the experts never know for sure which one will be prevalent. Then you got antigenic shift and genetic mutation.

I guess that's why anywhere between 35,000 (low end) to over 100,000 per year die in the US from flu.
That's a great vaccine!

There are some things in the works though, see last 2 links:

As to the topic though, my quarantine has been awesome............NOT

I don't quarantine, been out every day.
Use standard social distancing and face cover however..........

CV is rarely passed casually especially outdoors according to latest studies by WHO in Wuhan.
The risk of infection rises substantially if you are in close proximity over extended period of time, like in family gathering, subway system, etc.

This is no hoax but don't oversell it either

Looks like we will get to 100,000 deaths in not too distant future. Right now there are 30,000 new cases a day with 2,000 death per day. There is a basis for caution and it is not a hoax.

How about some reporting by the media about the amount of economic damage being
done each day the shutdown continues. Isn't this as relevant as reporting the number
of cases and deaths. A long term shutdown is unsustainable and certainly won't
happen again. Civilization will collapse. Life will go and everyone will just do their
best to survive.

LA Matt....we have tens of thousands die from the flu every year, but the press and all of our politicians are not talking about it 24/7. Sometimes the number is around 30,000 but sometimes we are in the 60,000 to 80,000 range.

Of course, we also kill 36,000 people a year in car accidents in the U.S., but you don't hear about those numbers 24/7. And that number is 1.25 million world wide. But that also doesn't have a daily world map ticker counting them off....

Jazz51. The leading cause of death in the US so far this year is covid-19, beating heart attacks, cancer, car accidents, etc.

Yes, the flu kills 60k per year. But if Covid-19 has killed 60k, in 4 months, with people quarantined at home. What number would we have if all where out and about during that period of time. Based on the multiplication of cases, more than half a million

Someone your age should stay indoors for the rest of the year. Even if some government officials think you are expendable. Don't let them win.

OK this is May being a bit provocative here. Anyone arguing that only 1 to 2% of the population dying isn’t a big deal and is concerned about their “freedom “to get back to “normal” needs to identify one or two family members or close friends they are willing to offer up to death to “save the economy” or regain their “freedom”. Name them! Say them aloud with the same ease you offer up or dismiss someone else’s friend or family member.

Never otherwise
Plus, I gently soap my dick for 20 seconds or more when i get home.
No health reason, I just enjoy it.

By the way, somebody posted this:

"Just FYI... it IS a flu
Very contagious and with a 2-4% mortality rate, butt still a flu"

Incorrect, while a coronavirus may cause flu-like symptoms, it is not influenza. And, your mortality numbers are likely high by a factor of 10, at least. Note the difference below.

Coronaviruses constitute the subfamily Orthocoronavirinae, in the family Coronaviridae,

In virus classification, influenza viruses are RNA viruses that make up four of the seven genera of the family Orthomyxoviridae:[43]
