Hmmm, tough call
I'll take pussy for $1,000, Alex.
Freedom is not free, Security in the name of control of ever aspect of your personal life..
.
Freedom
This is a false dichotomy, in my opinion. It's never just one or the other.
I'm guessing that *most* of the people whining about having their rights restricted are also in favor of locking up criminals. They have already conceded that there are limits to freedom.
Someone once said “freedom is the recognition of necessity “. Pretty much sums it up.
"Which do you choose?"
Both
But in the time of a one in a century pandemic, Im cool with listening to the medical professionals.
I'll take FREEDOM for $1000!
State and local politicians are now saying the lockdown is necessary to save lives?
Damaging the economy has it's consequences also.
Without business there is no govt. So how do the state and local governments
plan to recoup all the revenue they are losing, each day the shutdown continues.
I got no problems with social distancing, I do have issues with closing down sections of a store that is not "approved" items. I have a Huge problem with saying you can go to a marijuana dispensary but you cant go to any other type of shop or mom and pop business. Just seems like not the thought put behind making such rules is somewhat misguided to craven. Doubling down on these decisions and showing up to press conferences and speaking down to those you are supposed to be leading is not a formulary for success or leadership.
are these "freedom" seekers are the same as the doom's days preppers that supposedly have enough ammo and food to last for years? Are they the same that calls libtard snowflakes because they are weak and soft ?
These are the same people that hates socialist yet I bet most of them cashed their "stimulus" check.
So Correct me if I'm getting this right. When other people are getting the Govt. Money it's socialist and when you're getting it's a stimulus.
They bitch about how weak others are and yet god forbid they go a month without a haircut .Are these the same people that preach if you don't love this country leave, and yet they want to "take it back". I see these militia fools at the state capital protesting with guns, I bet my paycheck if they were blacks they would be arrested. Freedom is never free it's paid by the poor and the minorities fighting in foreign countries that as a nation we have yet to learn about our mistakes. While I do love this country so much we have a long way to go for race relations.
I find it offensive that protestors are protesting using a confederate flag. The are the same assholes that complain when Mexican are waving the Mexican flags. Last I check there were no confederacy states of America. If I can send half of the racist back to Europe I would send all of them Half way.
May the 4th be with you.
Wait when I saw you post May 4th tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo!
No parties!
@Drboogie "State and local politicians are now saying the lockdown is necessary to save lives? "
Yeah dude the life they may be saving is your 60 year old ass lol
State government closed the businesses and federal government sent the check soo whats your point....wait wait scratch I said that. I don't have any interest in reading some long 3 paragraphs you write going way off the subject and weaving in Syria or a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the blog topic.
I'm 119 and I'll take my chances, you chickenshits.
"Someone once said “freedom is the recognition of necessity “. Pretty much sums it up."
Catchy line from Friedrich Engels, drnking buddy of Karl Marx.....ya know, the Commie dude.
Channelled from Hegel and explained as follows:
In the long course of history it has been observed that what ever social conditions has been created by people is not being enjoyed by the same people. On the contrary a selected few enjoy the
cream. They are the landlords, kings, capitalists and bureaucrats. By virtue of becoming a landlord, king, capitalist and bureaucrat a limited few enjoy the entire surplus of the society
Typical commie bullshit for taking over a government and being a fascist.
Fuck that
Give me Liberty or give man Death!
Now that's a catchy phrase!
State, county, local governments are up shit creek with no paddle and a large hole in the boat.
They can recoup by reopening beach parking lots and charge $200/day for a spot.
No it didn't dude.
Nobody needs your verbose recitations. Dude you're too into you own mind. These are blogs on a ho site lol
In your mind you think you making some grand point but you NOT lol. You're actually really funny . You remind me of Frasier Crane from the old episodes of Cheers.
Dude THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT lol
Random off topic shit that means nothing. You just like to type
...dude rest your wee little brain ok
this is funny shit right here
He's right about Doom dood
Limited ability to process information
Lack of comprehension
Fallback to shill argument when lost
Lazy thinker and gullible
He's consistent in his failure, though
Unfortunately, that's not a good thing
Sad

One example:
"But in the time of a one in a century pandemic, Im cool with listening to the medical professionals"
Numerous links have been posted showing that Covid is and will not be as bad as previous pandemics in last 100 years or so. Doom Dood ignores evidence and continues repeating same tiresome incorrect statements gleaned from cable tv news.
Will you continue to listen to (which?) medical professionals as they begin to report that outdoor infection is almost impossible, that death rates are 10 times lower than were originally projected, etc etc?
Seriously, is there anybody left, who has not drunk the kool-aid, that still thinks Russian collusion is a thing? Completely debunked conspiracy theory, yet Dood still repeats it.
Many other examples but why bother, knowing that Dood got confused at the first sentence of this post
Dude a doubt anyone even reads your post. You're a ghost lol. Grow up and post from a real profile.
^^^ I read the whole thing and he's right dude.
You always put forth the same nonsense rubbish brainwashed statements from CNN and MSNBC.
^Same profiles same shills with the same bullshit day after day after day^
As it relates to news personally I look at a variety. When I have time local is first CBS, KCAL,NBC.CNN, CNBC I hardly ever look at MSNBC and I look at FOX now and then to see what the other side thinks. Fox says they aren't news they are opinion and of course propaganda for the administration. There are others but don't want to list them all.
Back to what the blog is about I don't feel our freedoms are been restricted by the lockdown because the lockdown is for our health and personal security. Yes Im sure we all want it to end as soon as possible. It has really hurt our economy but we have to realize everything might have just changed for the near future and we need to adjust to the change. Distancing, masks, getting away from people that cough around you, being in crowds, being on buses and planes where you are in a confined space with others for a long period of time. All this and going to be with us and part of the economy. Adjust to the new normal.
^Same profiles same shills with the same bullshit day after day after day^
Grambler has 2 recent rates from ladies, dummy.
Also, makes sense in his post
As for Doom Dood, the case is closed, fall back on the shill argument when you have nothing of consequence to say.
"When I have time, CBS, KCAL,NBC.CNN, CNBC".........nothing but sounds bites while drinking Kool-Aid"

Talking about YOU and jack ass

It appears your chance of surviving the virus is over 99%. That's means most
of us will still be here next year. We need to open up the economy ASAP!
Saving lives at all cost is not practical. We are damaging the lives of millions of others.
@DudeLewbowski, how will govt operate if many businesses go bankrupt due
to the continued shutdown? You seem to only concerned about saving lives
without considering the cost. Some people would be willing to quit their job,
mortgage their home and spend their life savings to try and save a loved one,
but most would not. Cost/benefit analysis goes on everyday.
The cost of saving lives is causing the destruction of many more lives.
We need to get back to work!

If the country refuses to try to get out of a situation where we're ok with seeing possibly 2,000 - 3,000 deaths a day and want to just open things up, then I think we're morally bankrupt and our best days as a country are behind us. It's one thing if we don't want to continue lockdowns forever. Fine. I get it. It's another thing if we don't even bother to try to ramp up testing to high levels to prevent this sort of death every day.
20,000,000 - 30,000,000 tests a day will kill the virus in its track. The problem is we’re not even trying. We just say it can’t be done. If we had that attitude, we would never gotten out of the Depression and lost to the Nazis. We can’t even beat a fucking virus.
Deaths are cut down to only 50% if we isolate the vulnerable. Only 50%.

We have reached the point where it makes sense to talk about the monetary cost of saving lives. Medical ethicists and Public Heath specialists use the term "Quality Adjusted Life Years" to evaluate the cost of treatment relative to the QALY's saved. For example, spending a quarter-million dollars on a heart transplant for a 90-year old diabetic with Alzheimer's would not be considered cost-effective.
Seems like those on the right are basically arguing that we are spending way too much per QALY saved, and I agree that this is worth a discussion. At some point, we as a society need to make some difficult decisions.
Funny thing is, back in 2009 the same right-wing crowd was screaming "DEATH PANELS!" when QALY was brought up in the context of health insurance reform. Now it seems that they're perfectly OK with letting old people take their chances with C-19 working its way through the entire population.
It's okay to have an opinion on this, but I just wish people would stop being such fucking hypocrites.
We keep those who are most susceptible to serious complications, older people with underlying medical conditions, people with compromised immune systems, etc....keep them at home. but let the healthy slowly move back into business.....using risk management controls.
This is basic risk management. We must fully understand our risks, assess them and make sound decisions. You each get into the shower in the morning, knowing that thousands of people die each year falling in the shower. But you understand the risk, make sure your shower pan is not super slippery, and you use some caution in movement while in the shower. We do so to make sure we don't smell when we are out in public.
Likewise, you climb onto the freeway in the morning, fully knowing we kill 36,000 people every year on our roads....but you take that risk....good tires, good brakes, focus on the road, do not do stupid stuff like text and check phones, etc. We drive to be able to reach our destination...that reward is worth the risk.
And the list goes on and on of life's risks and rewards.
"how will govt operate if many businesses go bankrupt due
to the continued shutdown?"
Keep printing money and bail them out.
^^^^^We have to borrow from someone and they we all get to pay for decades to come.....
There are NO free lunches and anyone who is getting one, someone else is paying for it.....
But the living will get a chance to pay back debrs. Not all can, not all will, but they will live.
When you are sick or dead, your options in life are less.
@phlampson it is on point to bring up the concept of QALY except in this case it is the rest of a healthy society paying a HUGE price to remain in lockdown, not an insurance company.
Philosophically this is a rude form of equity at work. Making a large healthy population capable of contributing to an economy because the slim minority is at risk. It's not like participating in the economy is a non-essential leisure... it is the center of existence.
Many with life responsibilities and a business teetering on bankruptcy are beyond discussion and want to resume life. Thankfully others can wait a little longer.
We cant just keep printing money until there's an FDA approved vaccine. That's lunacy and most everyone knows it.
A vaccine may be 1,2,3 or more years away.
Those that want to stay closed, how much are you losing on a monthly basis? Or do you continue to make what you made before the pandemic?
I don't want to stay closed. I think we should stay closed until the end of June, when we have as much as a ramped up testing, tracing, and quarantining system in place as possible and continue to build from that. And the case numbers would be low then and hopefully from that point on with our new testing system, which would improve. That would be 3 months closed, no more. And we would never need to close again like we did this time.
^^^ I can agree on that. We cant do this again
*I don't want to stay closed long-term.
@Jackrabbit33 I think we agree that we must reopen the economy. We just disagree on how to do it.
My point, which I may have been too subtle about, is that there is a larger discussion to be had about healthcare in this country.
When the lockdowns started 6 weeks ago, the data was firmly pointing towards a disaster in the making. Now, as the data suggest the pandemic may be somewhat more manageable, we should start to discuss it accordingly.
That said, there is still a large price in lives to be paid if we reopen too quickly or without the proper measures to track and control the spread. Make no mistake, the current death toll would almost certainly be much greater if we had done nothing. And the toll will continue to increase quickly if we go back to doing nothing.

"Dude a doubt anyone even reads your post. You're a ghost lol. Grow up and post from a real profile."
I read his post, as did others. Everybody agrees with him and we all think you're an unaware human being.
I tend to simply dismiss you and carry on, but for some reason others enjoy getting sucked in to your cut and run style of arguing: you make an absurd claim and then when others respond you divert to other bullshit, while at the same time accusing others of doing the same.
Yeah Im sure you read it.
Is there a site somewhere called Shill Monkey News where all you no network shills get together and and tell each other stupid ass jokes that nobody with sense cares about lol
Crawling with shill monkeys lol
