Neat topic. Not for me, this planet has a ton of flora, fauna, geology and hydrology questions I'm more interested than that interesting but dead dusty ball of rock. I wouldn't mind spelunking in some of the caves on the moon though...just as long as someone will come back to pick me up!

YOU'RE talking about a ONE-WAY ticket.
YOU'RE going there.
YOU'RE NOT coming back.
YOU ARE GOING TO DIE THERE.
only question is... WHEN? doesn't really matter.
hope you bring something to kill TIME.
no internet, nothing to pass the TIME?
worse than Self-isolation.

OCCityBoy2 I wouldn't do it just thought it's an interesting subject to touch on. I'm already going crazy here on earth with this lock down stuff.

There are a bunch of people that I would be happy if they took that one way ticket to MARS.

i wouldn't be allowed to bring enough stuff to MAKE the trip.
it's not a sightseeing trip.
YOU'RE probably working the whole time.
and someone on earth is spending my pay? hell no.

not sure of the answer but it would take years to just get there! No need for a two way ticket as yo'd die on the way home. Jutst thinking of the wonderful tome Matt Damon had living out there!!! Not for me thanks,

I'd go. They wouldn't need to ask twice.

NO, not even if it was a round trip.
I would love to take a trip to the Space Station for a day and do a space walk for an hour.

That Matt Damon guy made it there and back. I still wouldn’t do it though. Maybe if there were a couple of HX hotties with me and customers made space suits for getting it on.

Actually, NASA, JPL, and CalTech know quite a bit about the Planet and environment on Mars. And yes, you would die either on the trip there or when you got there. One of the biggest problems for human travel beyond the vicinity of Earth is that Space is flooded with Radiation, not just from our Sun but also lethal Cosmic Rays from beyond our Solar System. Your body has a threshold for how much Radiation it can withstand, and a large enough storm of Radiation like a Coronal Mass Ejection would probably fry you to death immediately. Current best speed to Mars is about 9 months, so even if you survived you might be dying of Radiation sickness by the time you get there. And if you make it to the surface, no Oxygen, and no Magnetic Field to shield you from yet more Radiation.
However, I hear the women there are total Sluts. So yeah, I'm in!!!
