Can I get 10 for 1 on the under?
|
|
My guess under Newsom would be by July. However by that time
very few will be able to reopen. By the way things are going in CA
the restaurant/bar/club industry has been destroyed
According to Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, only
about 60% of the restaurants will be able to reopen, based on his
research. Really sad!
Destroying the lives of millions to save a few.
Another shutdown won't happen again, that's for sure.

Keep voting for democraps!!!
|

Shutdown or not - people are not going to come flocking back to many establishments.
Not until a vaccine.

By the look of things on Sunday, CV cases should double by end of month with another 100,000 deaths. Never seen so many people out walking, boating, surfing, biking, gathering lol.
We better stay locked down another 6 months for our own good
Nuisance has your back

I think the restaurants will open in the next few months. When they do open they will have all sorts of social distancing rules in place inside the restaurant and bars so I expect they will be operating at 50% of capacity or less. In order to make money at that level do they will probably need to charge more money for each meal.
I can envision a situation where a restaurant was charging $20 for a meal before the virus and when they open up with social distancing they now need to charge $35 for the same meal. And they will be trying to sell this to a public that has been out of work for a number of months and therefore does not have the money to pay those sort of prices. I think there will be a lot of restaurants that permanently close.

I love how people can arbitrarily say that bars and restaurants will come back with 50% capacity.
You do realize that they are people's businesses. Business run on economics. There is a point in which you break even, lose money, or turn a profit. Many of these businesses will just not reopen because they can't make a profit.
You also have to understand that many bars and restaurants don't exist for just food and beverage but for entertainment, fun, and socializing.
I really don't see a huge groundswell of patrons looking to go into a bar/restaurant with masks and social distancing. It is counter-productive to it's intended purpose.
The bottom line is we are all grown ass adults. Many have allowed silly politicians became a nanny as if they can safe us from all harm.
They continue to more the goalposts and everyone accepts it.
1. Lockdown to flatten the curve (not overwhelm hospitals)
2. Lockdown until cases / deaths decrease for two weeks
3. Lockdown until vaccine.
|
|
You cannot raise the prices enough to compensate for 50% capacity particular when the rent does not get reduced by 50%.. Most restaurants and I'll have the cashflow to operate under those numbers and yes they will close and that will be a shame.

I say open up the whole shabang!!!
My wife wants to move closer to the grands. If a lot of people die... I could probably get a better deal on a new house. If I’m really lucky... I could find one where the family actually died in the house!
Can you say... Bargain!

"Comparing overall death rates for the two countries offers an even starker point of comparison with total U.S. deaths now at a staggering 76,032 and Japan’s fatalities at 577. Japan’s population is about 38% of the U.S., but even adjusting for population, the Japanese death rate is a mere 2% of America’s.
This comes despite Japan having no lockdown, still-active subways, and many businesses that have remained open—reportedly including karaoke bars, although Japanese citizens and industries are practicing social distancing where they can"
The only real difference is that nearly everybody in Japan has been wearing masks.
The lockdown and the recession here is being driven by Americans' refusal to wear masks.

Souplantation is a casualty already.
|
|
km111 your #1 and #2 are the same thing, and no one is suggesting #3, so it's more that your argument is attempting to move the goalpost.
|
|
Souplantation had been on the edge for 15 years.
CV19 just pushed them over the edge.
|

Sorry GimmeLuv.
Listen to the Governors speak.
THEY are the one's moving the goalposts.
#1 and #2 are different because the first goal post was a non-specific date target based on hospitalizations. The Governors then started expanding lock-downs weeks in advance using time frames not based on science or a tangible objective.
#3 is being used by every silly liberal pundit after they continue to scare the public with
"it's still out there" (yes we know, with all kinds of other things as well)
"it's selfish to go outside when others may DIE"
The true definition of a quarantine is to identify then risk group, isolate and protect them. Allow everyone else the freedom to isolate if they choose, while others can assume what risk they are comfortable with.

Where are you getting your numbers..
We are at about 1.3 million cases with 78,000+ deaths
Worldwide, there are 4.2 million cases and 286,000+ deaths.
And since not all of the countries have the medical system we have, the number of cases and deaths is probably underestimated worldwide. The Chinese have been lying about their numbers from the get go.....

OC is opening restaurants May 18th?
with limited seating.
disposable cutlery and plates.
and required to sanitize pens b4 giving to guest..
stuff like that

Did you see that the vast majority of the cases in the Hot Spot of New York came from people at HOME.
Stop listening to the BS on television. There is no scientific validity that shutdowns work.
Here is some science for you. The reason why these doesn't affect (serious symptoms) the young as opposed to older is that from the time we are toddlers we are exposed to all types of bacteria and viruses through contact with the world. We develop immunity through exposure.
I really wish someone can explain how in the hell you can make a virus go away by staying inside.
SCIENCE says the more people that are exposed, eventually the virus has no viable hosts to invade.

Just heard LA county body count, 45% of statewide infections, almost 60% of deaths!!
92% of deaths have underlying impairment (not identified in the broadcast)
50% are in nursing homes
Another high % in prisons
These are the ones where the money should be spent to protect
The rest should be able to go about their business with reasonable precautions
One size does not fit all!

I'm in the restaurant business in Los Angeles and no end in sight. I've been meeting with safety consultants to have a plan for the reopen based on recommendations in other states. But, right now it looks pretty ugly as far as re-opening and the lack of capacity, not to mention, I have a full bar, which brings in a lot of money. Bars are even tougher, because capacity will be reduced by an even greater percentage relative to the normal dining area. Been in business over 30 years and this is a tough one. I own my property, but just to turn the lights on and fire up equipment is a losing proposition with limited take out orders. I'm hoping something happens by June, but not counting on it.
