I have a vacation condo on the Big Island.
Things are more expensive than here! Everything is brought in by boat! Amazon Prime is not a thing in most cases.
Island happy is a thing once you gone 45 turns around the islands.
Otherwise your living in paradise! Enjoy!

As for size of the island; it's not the size of the island that matters more than how you live on it. The continental United States is just a really big rock with some other rocks shoved into or under it.

Tough place for haoles from the mainland. A little easier on Maui but rough nonetheless.

What island are you living on?
I've only visited Oahu. Peral Harbor was emotional and somber for me, Diamondhead's view was spectacular, the botanical gardens on the far side of the island was beautiful and Germaine's luau was great but when I went back for seconds all the food was gone.
I have stories about three great experiences while I was there but they would take too much time to explain here.

OK juliuscaesar1 one story. At the Germaine's luau they have all the guys stand in line then all the women come by each guy and give them a hug. As the woman moved down the line this beautiful little blonde came to me put her arms around me and started sucking on my neck. My knees got so week that I could barely stand. I was trying to look down the line to see where my wife was to make sure she is not seeing this.

First & only time I ever shit in the ocean was in Oahu beach about 26 years ago, I was having way too much fun to get out of the water...

Why wait at all. Go now and quarantine up for 14 days and then your all good to go. My friend just did it. He's got it made now. No traffic. No tourists. Best time ever.

I had a client move out there and she had to quarantine for 14 days and so she had to wait the 14-days before she could have her internet service installed. Luckily her iPhone had service at her location and she used the personal hot-spot on her iPhone to watch Netflix for 14-days and order food deliveries to her door but they had to just leave it at the door and wait for them to leave before she could open her door.
