I go between California and Texas all the time. Yes people REALLY hate Californians and California.
I hear it all the time when I'm in Texas. They're pissed because Californians are moving to Texas in droves, those that moved to California when the 'boom' was happening 25 years ago and are now moving somewhere else, hate the politics etc.
So yeah they really hate California. Don't get me started on N.C., Okc, or the rest of the south.

I was born and raised out in those red state shit holes. YES...they HATE California. They hate every fucking thing about it. They hate the people, they hate the power it has, they hate that it is basically the media center of the world, they hate the money that it has and what they HATE the most it the freedom it has and that people flock here to chase their dreams.
It's not just California though...they fucking hate everything that isn't "them". They hate the northern states....STILL.. they hate New York, they hate big cities, they hate the parts of Florida that "the damn yankees" have "invaded", they hate "those dope smoking hippies in Oregon", and "those coffee sipping fairies in Seattle"..... They even hate it you aren't from their little shit hole towns.
The greatest majority of them are worthless uneducated shit bags that peaked in high school and have done nothing with their lives ever since. They blame everyone else for their poor life choices and live in this imaginary world where "the liberals" and "the government" are keeping them down. Their state governments are barely functional. Their healthcare and educational systems are pure shit. Their homes are basically worthless, the towns are poorly run, their roads are crap, their police forces are corrupt.... it goes on and on and on...it's a fucking mess. They HATE the fucking media because every time the media turns an eye on their fucked up little world....and the trailer trash can't control the message....it makes them look like shit. It shows their crappy little world as it really is and not how they pretend it to be.....DEFINITELY not the way you want to see it.
Now you will have a bunch of whiny dumb-fucks on here whine on and on about liberals, and socialism, and taxes,.."the nanny state" and this laughable bullshit of "liberal oppression". But the fact is that they are living California reality and their concepts of the rest of America...especially these fucking red states that they view as some kind of patriotic paradise...are incredibly skewed. Those mother fuckers seem to think that the lack of federal government oversight creates some magical fucking land of freedom and liberty..... IT DOESN'T. It creates a lack of oversight and control that keep those little mini tyrants from running wild and doing as they please. Cause the truth is that they want their oppression on an up close and personal level. They want full participation and control of making your life miserable and stripping you of your rights.
I've been out here over 30 fucking years now. I keep hearing all this crying about all of this "liberal oppression", but I have yet to experience it. Honestly I have never lived in a place where people absolutely just don't give a FUCK what I do like here in California. As long as I don't kill anyone, or go on a spree of hate crimes....nobody seems to give a SHIT what happens. Yeah... there are a lot of "don't be a dick" laws, but that doesn't really effect me because apparently I'm not a dick. Yeah... smog check sucks, that interferes with my muscle car fetish a little but I remember living in the 909 and going outside to yellows brown air that smelled like gas and made my eyes burn... so I can make a couple sacrifices so people can breathe easier. The straws and bags thing is annoying as fuck....but THAT is far from "oppression". The only thing I can honestly complain about is that the gun laws are shitty.
None of that compares to seeing burning crosses in the countryside, or being beaten and thrown in jail for the serious crimes of "not being from around here" and wearing a Van Halen shirt. It doesn't compare to having the local lunatic religious leaders come into your public school and hold an "educational assembly" where they lock the entire student body in the auditorium and pick out specific chosen kids to parade up on a stage and be told that they are going to burn in hell because of the sin of owning a Judas Priest album and that they can be saved if they commit their lives to Jesus. THEN adjourn to hold a "pep rally"/ bonfire, which is actually a book and record burning in the school parking lot...of a public school.
What those people hate most about California is the fact that people here have the fucking audacity to DARE to tell them that they can't act like that here, and that shit is unacceptable. Hell....just look at the ones on here that are always whining and crying about how "horrible" California is. What do you think life would be like here if those guys were in control? They would turn it into another shit hole red state in the blink of an eye.
Plus they hate that California has it all, beaches, mountains, deserts, forests, and the beautiful woman ration is like fucking quadruple that of the red states. Whatever their shitty little state has California probably has one better.

Yup, that's about right. When the good old Army put me somewhere in the nasty blank space in the center of the country (Fort Riley, Kansas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma), I got to see just how much it sucks to be in the mid-worst. Funny thing now is, when people I know who still live in Kansas talk about how cheap it is to buy land and houses out there, I just grin and remind them that it's cheap because nobody in their sane and rational minds actually wants to live there.

And by the way-- no, Gavin Newsom isn't perfect. He's doing a way better job as Governor than Donald Trump is doing as President, though. At least the folks we've got in Sacramento beat the hell out of the dumbfucks we're stuck with in Washington DC (particularly the ones in charge in the Senate, the White House, and the Supreme Court). And it'd be nice if we weren't paying around $1.80+ in Federal taxes for every $1 we get back in Federal services, spending and support. While most of the dumbfucks in the red states are talking such trash about California, the only reason we need any kind of Federal help for the state even in the days of COVID (and the reason we have any problems with the state budget) is because we've been heavily subsidizing all of the shit states in the rest of the country that hypocritically whine about their tax load, talk up about wanting smaller government, and yet are the biggest beneficiaries of Federal welfare spending in the country. If we really got smaller government in Washington, they'd all be completely fucked.

There's some truth to what you say. I've worked in almost every state, lived in a few and overseas. The benefits of reaching 119 years old.
California doesnt subsidize anybody anymore and you don't have to move to any of those states to see shitholes, just go 20 miles inland. We live in 2 separate worlds right here. Working poor and immigrants toiling away inland with a wealthy virtue signalling coastal section that makes those inland lives more precarious every day.
I've considered living elsewhere but prefer to stay, overpay taxes for crap, and try to change some small part that I can.
I understand why non-progressives leave but if CA is such a progressive paradise, why are they leaving too?
No, Newsome sucks, as does my local representative, a total twat.

Yeah people hate Californians because they are envious of what exists here.
But the progressive politics is turning this state into a shithole economically but yet we still have all the beautiful amenities to mask the financial horror.
I've had numerous job opportunities to move out of state over the years... TX, AZ, NC, OR but in the end all the guys I know that move away come back anyways.
So many businesses have moved and this thing with Tesla is just another grave example of how progressives just dont have a grasp of caring for business climate. They are too wrapped up in other fringe nonsense .

California by far is the best state in terms of amenities and quality of life if you can afford it. And it is expensive here because of the high demand for real estate.
Progressive politics is what makes California what it is. Progressive laws passed first in California have historically been adopted by the rest of the states eventually. Being inclusive and tolerant are progressive ideals.
The conservatives in this state, who hate California's progressive/liberal ideals, should simply move to states that are more aligned with their politics. No one is forcing you to stay here. Free up the real estate for those who value where you live.

OH California isn't perfect by any stretch. When I was growing up back east I bought into the whole "Golden State" myth where all of CA was like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. What made it worse was when I came to visit I came to see relatives that had big houses with pools in the hills up by Mullholland and houses out by the beach. So YEAH, when a stupid kid who grew up in the deep south and the Mid-west gets here, of course he thinks that there is some big tittied California blonde named Bambi is just laying on the beach waiting for him and life is going to be about surfing all day and having lunch with movie stars. Life in California is gonna be a combination of Baywatch, Three's Company, and 90210. Then when you get here.....and you end up living in Lake Hellsinore and fucking Riverside.. It's a pretty fucking rude awakening about the realities of California.
There are SERIOUS fucking problems. Illegals are a problem. Housing is a problem. The homeless are a problem. Seemingly uncontrollable taxation is a problem. Driving industry OUT of CA is a problem. But these lying ass trumpanzees would have everyone believe that those problems ONLY exist in CA and that conservatives have in no way contributed to those problems. Which is absolute bullshit.
The liberals need to be reigned in. Some of this shit is absolutely ridiculous. But if you hand control of this state over to those trumpanzee fucktards, those mother fuckers will turn California into fucking West Alabama faster than you imagine. Outside of Tex-ass just look at every miserable shit hole welfare state that they control. After living all over the country all I can say is that liberal bullshit is bad but conservative bullshit is 10 times worse.
This is exactly why you need to maintain a balance of powers between the parties. Too far one way or the other and everything gets fucked up.
All these people complain about California....but you don't see them packing their shit up and moving to the conservative paradise that is Alabama. Even though they could sell their million dollar Orange County homes and literally buy 4 homes in Alabama, they don't. They could live like kings in Arkansas.. but they DON'T. If their bullshit were true CA would be a desolate ghost town of a state with nothing left but gays and Mexicans crying about saving the whales. The reality is that there is a housing shortage. The reality is that they keep building and building and in spite of an occasional bubble bursting there are STILL not enough homes for all the people that want to live here. The reality is that in spite of their lying bullshit the values of the properties they own just keep going up and up to a point where average working Americans will never be able to afford to live here. "Oh look, my home has nearly doubled in value in about 15 years"....you don't hear them complaining about THAT do you? Yet if you believe all their lying bullshit you couldn't GIVE property away in CA.

Fucking red states are coming here intentionally to cannibalize our industries by offering up unsustainable state subsidies and exemptions funded by taxpayers. Taxpayers who honestly can't afford it. Once those incentives are gone because the tax dollars have dried up..."Hollywood" vacates and moves on to the next "hot spot" leaving those dumb mother fuckers with empty sound stages that they built because they actually thought Hollywood would stay.
Outside of NY these idiot locals have no idea how the industry works and the illicit amounts of money involved. They have no clue that they are being screwed harder than they ever could imagine and all of the money that they are losing out on. They don't know you can rent your house out for up to $5000 a day while production puts you in a 4 star hotel and pay all your bills for the duration.....then repairs anything that is damaged and replaces everything in your life back to your specifications....until you are happy....and if you are unhappy they will cut you a check. Those dumb-asses are so fucking starstruck that they think producers are doing them a favor by putting their house in a movie and let them shoot for free.
It's a running joke in the industry how they are openly just financially raping these states. They have NO intention of actually leaving CA on a permanent basis. They just take the money and run. Just look at all the places that thought they were the new Hollywood...Vancouver, Michigan, Chicago, Louisiana, New Mexico... When the tax credits went away, so did production.
The worst part is that those dumb fucks in Sacramento won't hardly do ANYTHING to protect the last industry that California truly dominates. THAT is just fucking stupid.

I was born and raised here. And I have to ask the question:
What is the fascination California has with:
- Illegal aliens
- welfare
- regulating small businesses out of existence
- Taxing everything at the maximum possible rate
- Regulating every aspect of our lives -- grocery bags, straws, etc.
- Restricting Constitutional rights (speech, 2nd Amendment, etc.)
- Letting criminals out of jails before they complete their sentences
- Prosecuting and citing taxpaying citizens for very minor offenses and fining them hundreds of
dollars to generate revenue
- and last but not least, pandering to public employee unions and creating an unfunded mandate in
excess of $1 trillion! All for the benefit of a political party, and for the accumulation of power by a
few select individuals.
Do you wonder why there's pot holes? Do you wonder why gasoline taxes are so high? And state income tax? And sales tax? And cell phone tax? And garbage tax? And electricity tax? And water tax? And now they want to add sales tax to services too, like hair and nail salons, doctors, lawyers, and accountants? As long as we allow them to continue to spend, they will continue to spend, and overspend. And then they will continue to tax us until we have noting left.
And our public schools suck ass.

Having lived here, and other states off and on, I have formed a good comparison.
There is no utopia. Everyplace has its up's and down's.
I love CA, but I dislike most of the politics, handouts and the expense of the working family, cost of living, traffic, and over crowded areas.
I dont like the trend of good jobs moving out of state because of certain anti-business policies.
I will probably move when I get closer to retirement age, there are a lot of good places out there in the big bad world, as one's priorities change so does the place one call's home.

I don't know why anyone complains about the government in any state at all. It has never affected me one bit until they took away my gender specific bathrooms, plastic bags and plastic straws. That's it. And you know what, it sucks, but is it really anything to complain about?
In my 40+ years, I've lived in 6 states for several years at a time, and have revisited a few there for several months. 2 in the NE, 1 south, 1 midwest, and 2 on the west. CA is by far the best place to live, and all the positives outweigh the negatives.
There's only one other state I would move to that is better than CA, and that's where I will retire in about 10 years. Aloha bitches.
