While I may be perceived to have irrational opinions on Covid19 participating in any type of group setting is not my bag at this time.
I will say that Quarantine edicts from Governors should be looked into but there are easily ways to counteract any claim that civil rights are being violated. A legislative act that aims to curtail and minimize social interaction by all and has legislation with clearly defined parameters as to how many people, distancing, and time frames would hold up under judicial scrutiny. States and Cities are taking an easy way out by allowing/forcing the hand of a Governor/Mayor to act outside the will of legislature. All the politicians need to put their name on the dotted line not just the Governors.

Are we to imply that two whole states need to go back into lockdown because two churches closed or had issues?.. at least they self corrected.

So live events are still no where in sight. 13 million people out of work in the industry, yet we are still supposed to pay our bills, federal unemployment bump is supposed to end in July. How is any of this sustainable?

Everyone who is saying we need to stay shut down for several more months, please tell me your source of income.......the $1200 can't go that far.....and unless you are a very low wage earner, the unemployment doesn't cover what you made....
So it is social security, retirement pension, earnings from investments, independently wealthy and don't give a damn about others, or work for the government....yep, those people are still collecting paychecks....

No mention about the millions who are furloughed or laid off. I got $500 of the $1200 because I make more than $100k a year. Big fucking deal.
I got one unemployment payment 2 weeks ago and nothing since.

We needed a severe but short-lived lockdown to get case numbers to be low. Instead, because we pulled back too damn fast without replacing the lockdown with a testing, tracing, and quarantining system, we are in danger of needing further lockdowns if there are second and third waves of this pandemic. This opening up at this time is shortsighted!

Where do you think the virus is going...
There are four basic theories...the virus will just die off like many of its predecessors.
We will find a vaccine....
We will get herd immunity so the virus will have NO carriers and likewise will die off....
We stay shut down (although you do realize people could still be passing the virus when they go to the market, to go meals, health care workers going home, other essential workers interacting with people...so technically we are not really shut down.....and somehow, miraculously the virus goes away......

And remember.....the virus is still out there in the rest of the world....even China is now seeing some cases popping back up after they thought it was gone.....
So unless we actually shut down our borders to all international travel and stop anyone coming through the Canadian and Mexican borders....it can still keep coming in......

Media likes to focus on restaurants and public facing shops, but there are whole industries out there that can't even begin to get back to work due to the current state of things.

Its pretty egalitarian of some to assume that keeping things locked up is the only way. I don't see any tables of what things would look like at different levels of mitigation. That would be a sensible thing to do . All this do as I say or people will die shit just pisses people off. You'd think the libs would have figured out that dog don't hunt too well.
Tell me how I can mitigate what measures I must take and I'll implement them at work and leisure. Just as I've done since this whole thing started.

As for herd immunity:
A lot of government reports from European countries on seroprevalence to SARS-CoV-2 this week and they all show the same - it's low.
Spain ~5%
Italy ~5%
Sweden ~5%
Denmark ~1%
Norway < 1%

I don’t know which is the correct way to go. I think most businesses can open with a few safety measures in place.
As one with a background in theology... I don’t understand why some churches are rushing back towards group gatherings. I would think their desire would be to serve their community. Not threaten it’s safety.
I have heard Hebrews 10:25 used as biblical justification: “... not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
That totally ignores the context of the passage. vs 24 says, “ And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,...”
The goal of gathering is considering one another, stirring up love and good works.
At the time of the writing of that passage... the only way to stir up love and good works was in person. They couldn’t call each other. They couldn’t text. They couldn’t Skype or Zoom or Tweet... they couldn’t do online messaging, no Facebook, YouTube etc...
I’m not saying gathering is not important. It is very important. It’s just not what is most important. Particularly when it could cost people their lives.
I hope churches would re-think their decision to gather... even if they are using all of the prescribed safety measures.
I think it is a selfish move.... and if anyone should be living sacrificial during this time... it should be churchmen.

Churches have an agenda... Pastors definitely have one and my belief it's all related to their wallet. But they should be putting pressure on government entities asking how they assemble safely and working within that guidance. I know people using g Zoom and meeting 2 to 3 times a week. They dont have to assemble but thought should be given by legislative bodies as to how to make it safe for some to meet.
Just like they should be developing ways or formulating guidance for businesses to open. The fact that they just give edicts and extending lockdowns tells me that they aren't putting any thought in how to open up, just how to keep you locked up.

As the CDC themselves admit, most of us WILL get the virus whether there is a successful vaccine or not and it will become just like influenza and other viruses that will be with us forever. We have vaccines for flu, yet 30,000 to 100,000 or more die in the US from the flu.
380,000 old people die in nursing homes every year, most from infection. Half of Covid deaths are in nursing homes.

There are literally hundreds of possible vaccines in the works. Moderna is in Phase 2 efficacy trials now and positive results happening. There is no guarantee but they've already lined up a manufacturer to do 1 billion doses per year if phase 3 works in July.
Does it matter, yes and no. It will help achieve herd immunity quicker thru adaptive immunity. Obviously, innate immunity is already protecting 99.5% or more of the population. But, SAR-2 will eventually become just another bug amongst many that kill some people every year.
Calm the fuck down, open it up, know you're gonna get some hot spots that you'll have to deal with.
You fucking shutdown idiots know that we've just thrown a half a billion people back into dirt poverty? 5,600 people died in N.Y. from non-covid emergency situations in a 3 week period cause they're scared shitless to go to an ER.

If we get new cases down to low levels via a 3-month lockdown, and if we have/had good leadership from the top that would build a large testing infrastructure and explain the science and necessity of contact tracing to alleviate people’s concerns with privacy, a system of testing, tracing, and quarantining would work.
Letting a virus run free through the United States, killing at least 400,000 citizens and causing irreparable damage to many others lungs, kidneys, and hearts when there are always other options (including other options besides lockdowns) is reprehensible and unacceptable.

Most vaccine trials don’t work. The Moderna news blurb was more flash for a country that needs good news than actual science; very little data was released and many questions remain.

Live events is one of the bigger industries in the country, employing 13 million people. Most of them are good paying jobs with benefits and all that.
What does the future hold for us? We have no idea. There was an auto convention in China recently. Reports say that it went fine but do we trust Chinese data?
There was a concert in Alabama recently, they sold packs of 4 seats, called fan pods, at $20 per seat for one person. The promoter lost money and the venue was at 1/4 the crowd.
I have savings, along with others that I know in this industry, we are collecting the unemployment and all that crap. But can we go like this forever?
I like my job and the company and people I work with and I want my life back. If that offends some then, good.
Even if I was independently wealthy, I wouldn't want to sit on my ass at home all the time anyway.
