worldclass....not true....
Most hotels had their pools closed, including all hotels in LA County. They were not disinfecting them., nor being responsible for keeping people at proper distancing. I have 7 hotels clients in LA and OC and all had their pools closed.

I am concerned about new cases divided by number of tests rising since we started opening up around May 8. Something to continue to watch.

Lol, you can't stop the spread, only slow it.
You realize that this brand of SARS will be with us for the foreseeable future, like the flu or common cold, right?
And, people will die from it every year.
Most will hardly remember since the media will have moved on to shark attacks or Timmie getting rescued from the well by Lassie.
Don't let your anxiety and fear run your life.

I’m sorry, did some stupid mother fucker show off how willfullly ignorant they were by ignoring facts again?
Must be subslut.
Congrats, you’ve earned your official “I am a lemming, see me fly.” badge.
“Orange County recorded 14 new coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday — the most in a single day since the pandemic began — an uptick that officials attribute to outbreaks of the virus in nursing homes.
The rise in deaths comes a day after the county reported 10 fatalities related to COVID-19.
....
On Tuesday, 253 people were hospitalized for issues related to the coronavirus, a new record for the county. A day later, that number dropped slightly to 247. Currently, 89 people are being treated in intensive care units.“
That was Thursday before the holiday.

Question for OP
Having won thirdth place honors in Douchery and being proactively committed to acts of pure unadulterated Douchery, any chance we could have a parade with theme floats celebrating La Douche?

Another possible vaccine from Pfizer

I'm with gloom, close all those nursing home pools.

I've been in Texas, Austin to be specific, for the last couple of months and their governor pretty much opened the state back up a month ago, bars and restaurants were allowed to open last Thursday, actually Friday, at 12 midnight and were packed at 12:01 am.
So the whole state is pretty much opened up. Cases have increased as you'd expect so we'll see what happens. Imagine Texas and other states that have opened up will be the test cases for California.
Can't wait to get back home to California but since I live in the southwest corner of San Berndu county maybe I'll just wait a bit.
Course the other problem that anyone coming from California into Texas has is that they have to self quarantine for 2 weeks, by state law, no other state just California. That's how much texas hates California and Californians. So coming back for business will be a complete pain in the ass!

i'm going to sound like a Arse but here goes. The world needs to reduce the populations by about 10% I say open up everything and allow natural selection takes it's course. If you're not going to make it . oh well. we can't have all the old farts eating up all the resources. Sorry Nana Love ya but you're killing my economic life line. I'm sure Jesus is waiting for you open arms.

I dunno. What is frustrating, is you CAN stop it. Different ways can get the reproductive number of the virus to less than one, so it completely dies out. Harsh lockdowns can do that, but we understandably don't like that. Randomly testing 20 million people a day would do that, but that's interferes too much with people's lives. Some combination of fewer tests and contact tracing would do that, but that option may not be popular either. Vaccines would do that, if the percentage of people taking the vaccine is high enough to give herd immunity. But will enough people want to take the vaccine? If the world works together over the next several years to get 7+ billion vaccines out, SARS-CoV2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) could be eradicated from the face of the earth, like smallpox was.
Instead of fighting, let's work together and beat the shit out of the real enemy -- the fucking virus.
|
|
Welllllll let's see ... if an American vaccine is made and Trump declared it the winner of the Vaccine lottery no we wont get enough people to use it it cus half the population won't take it in protest.
Now if China or Germany or France gets there first then many wont take it cus well - I ain't taking no commie socialist hybrid vaccine.
Then there's the anti-vaxxers that wont take it no matter what. Not many but I would be remiss in not mentioning them.
So there we are. Right back where we started.

1) Lassie never saved Timmie, she (HE) just ran for help
2) how about these court asses - they rule that the constitution must be suspended - isn't that the very definition of Treason?

My current research is going to explore the idea of lockdowns and test them on different epidemic networks and see if they are always equally effective on them. My hypothesis is that they are much more effective on some networks than other networks. COVID may be a network which is less sensitive to lockdowns, meaning they were effective, but not as much as people think. Look what’s happening now. We weren’t able to get new cases and deaths way down. I’m not a skeptic. I just don’t know. I’m trying to answer this scientifically.
The more I work on this problem, the more I am become a lockdown skeptic. Not for political reasons, but for scientific ones.

I think this virus is so contagious that you can't really stifle enough contact to shut it off.
We have not really initiated a 'lock down' since there were so many businesses and activities that were deemed essential and people continued to secure groceries, get take out, etc.
Look at all the news people, politicians, etc. who have been going about their business with little or no changes. Various government workers also continued to come in and expose each other and their families.
So, we initiated a modified isolation to bend the curve, which is what was needed while supplies were sorted out and secured and medical facilities developed the necessary protocols.
Mission accomplished and those who keep whining about opening back up...they can stay at home forever.....no skin off my nose....
|
|
Absent a vaccine, this virus will either burn itself out or we will start to approach herd immunity. All the lockdowns in the world probably will not shut it down...
We are now seeing upticks in South America....and it is probably just a matter of time before more cases are found in Africa...
|
|
our lockdown was never intended to stop this virus, just slow it down so we could cope with it
all of the projections said that the same number of people would get sick, just over a longer period of time - is this a good thing or should we have all just gotten the thing and now we'd be over it?
the stats I saw said we would have had the same number of deaths too
|
|
Hopefully vaccines to the rescue and some type of normalcy again by this time next year.

@Crystalcrossxoxx sunning her goddess like bod' by the pool is an image to savor through all this craziness for sure....
