It is an amazing feature of nature....and the hike up is not bad, fairly short .

Yes it is. There's a waterfall nearby as well.
There's some natural hotsprings in between OC and Riverside. We're not talking huge it's still neat stuff. I'll dig up the info when I get around to it (anyone else has info feel free to post here).

Yes. Definitely a gorgeous place to visit. The hike to nearby Rainbow Falls is awesome. Good place to do some camping too at Pumice Flats nearby.

It's an awesome place and the trail also links up with the PCT so that you can hike from Post Pile to Mammoth or just take a couple of long day hikes. Great place! Thanks for the post.

Go to Mammoth in the fall. Summer people are gone and the ski season hasn't started yet.
You can see Fall Colors as the trees change color. The aspen leaves turn brittle and you can hear the sound of the leaves "quaking" (rustling) in the soft breeze.
Fishing is not great, since they stop stocking the lakes and streams, but the hiking is great.
Also, any of the restaurants that haven't closed are super happy for your business and there are no waiting.

I haven't been there in the fall but I have been to places like Kings Canyon; it's nice going off season. I've done Yellowstone during the winter; that is a sight to see. One of my top ten park experiences.

I've never been to Devil's Postpile. It looks awesome.
Some of my favorite places in the Country:
Death Valley
Monument Valley
Valley of the Gods
Lake Powell
Grand Canyon
Meteor Crater
Joshua Tree

Kings Canyon is just down the street from Postpile which is about 4 hours north. It's actually pretty close to Mammoth. IIRC it's about a 2-3 hour hike from Postpile to Mammoth on the PCT.

Devil's Postpile is awesome sight, been there a million years ago
If you visit, go next door to Devil's Anus too!

I'm totally addicted or hot springs at lake Isabella.
Actually thinking about taking a few weeks and traveling around checking out natural hot springs.

Best thing about owning a condo in Mammoth. Devils Postpile is a hop skip and jump.
Love it up there since it's so nice and peacfeul.
