I think there's some place near the LA Harbor, the name is lost on me at this moment though.
Big Bear has Oktoberfest every year, have no idea what the food is like.
I still have my Staatliches Hofbrauhaus am Platzl mug from the real deal in Munchen
I could use a pretzel and a halbeshundl right about now too
The Jaegerhaüs restaurant in Anaheim is great. Food is authentic. On Ball Rd. and the 57. Not too far from der Phoenix Club German social club near the Honda Center.
Here you go..
Alpine Village Carson, CA
Agree German food blows.
@GE It's my thing, don't knock it At least I didn't ask about the best place to find Haggis--the most god awful thing ever made no matter how many ways my friends from Scotland decry it to be.
or...Durian. Respect to those who love it. No respect to Haggis.

Old World Village on Center Drive & Gothard in Huntington Beach --- right by GWC ...
It's not my thing, so I cannot vouch for the taste nor ambiance, but the place is packed ...

@GE. I know someone who loves menudo. That would not be me
@GBD: Yes, yes it very much is haggis in a bowl.
@Gina. German Chocolate Cake doesn't count.
@Granite LOL
Wait, Jeeze so many user names starting with "G"

I think the one Gina is thinking about is Rasselbock. It’s on Atlantic at Carson. Not a huge fan of German food, most that I’ve eaten was bland, but there’s is tasty. Good beer selection too.
If you're near Atlantic in Long Beach, head on over to the Bake N Broil, they'll make you anything you want... German included... One of the best restaurants ever
@hyder: Glad to hear the Red Lion is still around. I went there many years ago and liked it a lot, but never got a chance to go back. Next time I'm out in LA maybe I'll hit it up again.
What Reaper_1 said! I worked 35 years with a gentleman who immigrated from Germany when he was eight years old and I’ve been to both places mentioned. The Phoenix club by the Honda center Is a big establishment.
I've gotten blitz so many times at Red Lion I can't even remember what the food tastes like.
"Ich bin ein Auslander."
ANAHEIM The Mother Colony founded by Germans who arrived in 1857. There is the Phoenix Club located off Katella near Angels Stadium, authentic German food. Wurst and Brats, Smokey Beer, Beer made with burned hops, dark in color and tastes of smoke. If you can find it here in the US. A great German meal.
John F. K Kennedy once said, "Ich bin ein Berliner"
Minor problem, it means "I am a donut"
Funny guy, you know, Democrat President that would get laughed out of the room for being a racist mick who ain't woke and be accused of micro-aggressions against baked goods.
How has Der Weinerschnitzel not been mentioned yet?
wienerschnitzel
Great wienerschnitzel in Solvang, California.
Someone already said Red Lion in LA. Old school place that smells of beer and sauerkraut. Get the sausage platter and potato pancakes. Enjoy with a Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse.
Don't forget Schreiners Deli in La Canada. (that might not be the correct spelling)
They have it all.
Roast Pork Hocks, 18 kinds of liverwurst, excellent german salads and to top it off, they make the weiners for Dodger Stadium.
Mattern Sausage & Meats deli in Orange
German Cafe in North Carolina is the bomb if you ever get a chance to visit my lovely state
