The organizers were seeking an opportunity to advance their view that the federal government is constitutionally required to turn over most of the federal public land they manage to the individual states, in particular land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS),
This was a Federal land wildlife refuge, NOT private businesses and buildings. And they actually had a cause......
CHAZ has taken over PRIVATE businesses and buildings and blocked off public streets and not allowing public transportation to move through the area.
But go ahead and compare so you can feel better........

Oh I didn’t realize it’s ok to control the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT of USA with GUNS but it’s not ok to control and part of land who people pay PROPERTY TAX to local Government in USA is different lol

They were staging a protest of Federal versus State's right to the land......
I am not condoning what they did....but it is not an accurate comparison.

I pity the taxpayers and the residents there. This crap could make a life long left wing Democrat move away to a solid red, right wing city, where their life and property will be secure, and protected by the government, the police, and as a last line of defense, their neighbors.

Alcatraz was occupied by Native Americans for 19 months starting in 1969, until the feds forcibly removed them. The Treaty of Laramie said that any federal land that was abandoned would be returned to the tribes (not to some white ranchers or the states). Once again, the US government was "Indian givers".

I'm so lost? What does this have to do with hick occupying the middle of nowhere versus an urban area?
If I remember correctly there was no rush since nobody wanted to shoot or get shot over cows. I could be wrong.
If all the protesters went to protest out in BLM land I'm sure the urge to quell anything would be back page news.

Technically you are correct... Since Alcatraz is closed the ones that got federal prison time went to other prisons and the one that was killed in the shootout didn’t get buried on Alcatraz....
