This is actually a good thing.
Everybody wearing facemarks has lowered the spread in Asia.
As it gets hot people are going to start getting weird face tans from the masks being on lol
I've been seeing a lot of people not wearing them as much as things are opening up.

Some recent studies have shown face masks to be extremely effective in lowering secondary infections during a pandemic. In a recent paper published by the Royal Society, even if the facemask was only 50% effective in preventing droplet inoculum from passing on, if everyone worse a mask, this alone could potentially keep a pandemic at bay and prevent a secondary wave. I believe this study has been peer-reviewed.
However, there is one study that I know of that did not show masks to be effective during a pandemic. In a study of nonpharmaceutical interventions looking at data from this pandemic from 41 countries between January and April 2020, mask wearing did not reduce the number of secondary infections. This study, however, isn't peer reviewed and is from medRxiv.
The consensus from most health experts is that masks work. Look at doctors and nurses wearing masks in the hospital. You think they do that just for kicks?

It helps protect you from others that might have the virus (if you have a good mask) and helping protect them from you.

2,200 cases recorded today alone in LA County.

Number of testing locations has not increased but the number of positive cases has.

Cases have gone up higher than the rate testing has gone up of late.

Many people can be asymptomatic of the disease. Meaning they can't tell they have COVID, and they are quite infectious, so this statement is not true.

Turns out there is no right to be an asshole, to endanger others, or to cause people to be afraid for their health and health of loved ones.
You can't drive drunk, shoot bullets into the air, go punch people.... no matter how much you feel entitled to. And you can't go out to public places without as mask in a time of pandemic.
It's stupid this has to even be imposed but some people are too stupid or inconsiderate to do the right thing unless forced to. So it goes.
And the government absolutely has authority to require masks when it is prudent to ensure public health and common good. Right there in the Constitution

Wearing a mask allows reopening and economic activity to move ahead. Cautiously.
Not wearing a mask is likely to lead to more economic issues, restrictions, maybe another lockdown which could be longer than the first.
It is actually embracing personal freedom, that people can be choose to be informed and responsible citizens and choose to do the right thing for the country and the economy without being forced.
Sadly, some Americans can't...
