I'm sure a new site certificate will be installed soon and you wont get the warning after that.

Basically if a site uses https as opposed http in its url that is a secure site that encrypts its data between the site and the client browser. They expire from time to time and when that happens you basically are forced to say yeah go ahead and use the expired certificate.

If your laptop or any other computer you use does not give you the same warning on your phone, you need to check the browser you are using because it means the security checks in your browser or computer has been disabled or turned off which would make you vulnerable when visiting websites with expired or invalid certificates.

What instigator said is worth repeating. You SHOULD see security warning at almost every click on HX right now, since the certificate expired. If you do not, check your browser settings.

Pretty sure this has happened before- site forgot to renew certificate and it expired. Should be temporary just until they fix it.

It's broken a lot of things like some photo gallery thumbnail images and icons. And most clicks now require 3-4 clicks to accept security exception.

And traffic and site is more vulnerable to hackers until fixed.

I'm using Chrome.... just click advanced and select the proceed link. It's labeled as unsafe but that a warning to those that are unfamiliar wit the site they are accessing. If you are unsure of the link you are going to do not proceed (unsafe).

It is risky to use the site right now as connections are not securely encrypted. Things like password are much more vulnerable to being seen.

Probably best to avoid site until fixed and when it is, change your password.

I'm not an expert and there are people here much smarter about this stuff so hope they chime in.

I think the only sensitive data to worry about (being intercepted) here is our password? Once logged in then not much matters?

If you are really concerned, avoid entering any personal info like phone number in a PM, until it's fixed. Could be intercepted but seems unlikely I think?

But I'm often naive. Maybe hackers target fringe sites with expiring certificates.

The connection to the site is still encrypted. The thing is that with the expired certificate, it just means the site can not be trusted as to who owns it.

If you are visiting a site for the first time and you get that warning, best to avoid it as the owners or the site has not been validated by the security certificate.

If you have visited the site many times before and have trusted it before, it might be okay to visit the site. Just do not renter any financial or confidential information just in case.

Once the site has updated the security certificates, I would suggest changing your password to the site just to be safe.
