No matter what anyone says. I believe the protests definitely are one of the main reasons for the spike in cases. I watched a few protest, I would say a large majority of people had masks but a lot did not. Some people had their mask around their chins. There were massive crowds and little social distancing. Please where protesting for hours. Also when you YELL its the same as coughing, the virus droplets spread. Most of the protestors were yelling close to each other.
I agree with the BLM cause and totally understand it but I could clearly see something like this was going to happen right about this time later.
The other part of this is the reopening and people getting close together.
On top of all that the fact that Trump supporters think wearing masks is a bad thing and they don't wear them. Is fucking insane! All that does is increase the spread.
Perfect storm. Re-openings... protests, people snubbing basic social distancing, Memorial Day, mask resisters, etc...
BTW... as usual Doofy has Trump on the brain. There are a ton of people who are voting for Biden who are not wearing masks lol.
Not to mention the a-political nutjobs who believe masks actually hurt people... (like anti-vaxers usually Dems) they are opposed to all of those protections in the same way Dude is opposed to bathtubs and showers. You stinky bastard.
@kaiserpermanente "There are a ton of people who are voting for Biden who are not wearing masks lol."
Trying desperately to make this ALL about Trump.
Biden wears a mask and promotes the wearing of masks.
A matter of fact many Republicans do as well. Mc Mumbles in the Senate, Mc Carthy even Sean Hannity of Fox talks about wearing mask. So why do Trump supporters resist to wearing mask? You had 6200 at a rally 90% were not wearing mask. There an event on 4th of July at Mt Rushmore. Masks are optional, social distancing not going to be enforced. All that and yesterday we had the most one cases recorded in the US record yesterday.

People who went out to the protests knew the risks and, surprise, here come the consequences.
“I can’t breathe” isn’t a cop on your chest, it’s COVID from someone else.
As mentioned months ago... I’m all for thinning the herd
Agreed.
A bet when this is all said and done there will likely be somewhere near 1000 people who die because of getting the virus from someone who was at a protest but theres really no way to track it.
I also bet there will be a bunch of people who die in the Tulsa area from that rally Trump had with no masks, in that enclosed arena.
Agreed with Sherkahn.
Definitely not Kiaserpermanente's shill monkey ass lol
You love me Stinky.
You're smelling your breath dumbass.
You should brush your teeth and scope out everytime after you eat GoballsdeepinHisAss's butt cheeks.
Also if the herd gets thin I hope you're part of it. You won't be missed at all.
By the way if you don't wear a mask in West Hollywood its a $300 fine.
You are a meany!
Even though you are by far the HX village idiot... I don’t wish death on you.
(All though I do fantasize about you dying in a serious blogging accident)

As of this point (Comment 11), DudeL is winning by like 2-0 in this one, or that's my read.
But like any Lucha Libre event, it's still early....

I heard on the news a week or so ago that the protests didn’t cause an increase in Coronavirus transmission. You would have expected a spike sooner if they were. The likelihood is that being outdoors is not an effective way to transmit the virus.
Logically, since there were protests all over the world, not just in the U.S., then you’d expect a spike reported all over the world. But the U.S. is the only developed country in the world seeing a spike now.
So what were the main causes of the spike? We opened too early, many people aren’t wearing masks, a lack of testing and contact tracing, and bars and other indoor social gatherings without social distancing. Bars apparently are an effective way to transmit the virus because lots of people are crammed indoors, people are typically speaking loudly close to each other, and everyone is sharing the same air. Outdoor bars with social distancing is fine.
I’m sure Trump’s indoor rallies were also an issue, which is why he canceled his rally in Alabama.
And for all of those who reject or ignore science: fuck you! You’re the cause of this.

^ MildlyAmusing is your grasp of science and what it doesn't know, couldn't even know at this point, and your sources "heard on the news." This is called confirmation bias, btw.
The guy who I “heard on the news” was Michael Osterholm, an infectious disease epidemiologist.
The other information was mostly from the CDC.
Definitely infection numbers in the US are increasing. Whatever the reasons are, if Trump is incapable of national mandate for masks, the congress should do that.
Note: death number per 100,000 in individual European country is worse than US, but Europe as a whole, it is lower than the US. The possible reason for each European country death numbers are higher than the US is that the population is more dense than the US.
However for the number of infection per 100,000, US is definitely at the top.
^ MildlyAmusing -- as far as I know, there is no peer-reviewed published research on the topic, not even a pre-print yet, so what you're hearing someone say is conjecture, despite their apparent credentials. It has the potential inaccuracy of confirmation bias, which can be huge with such messy data.
If they said it definitively, as you did, then they are an idiot or political hack/grandstander.
If they said, "It does not yet at this time appear to the source or one of the sources of the increase, but we don't have any great research on this either, so it may turn out to be so." Then they were being a scientist.

I was up in Sonora in Northern California last weekend.
Cute little Gold-Rush town, largely dependent on tourism.
We had lunch in a great restaurant in a 150 year old building.
The waitress told us that the big summer event in the town, the Calaveras County Jumping Frog contest, had been cancelled in May due to the shutdown. It really hurt their economy.
The other big event in the area is the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee, held the last weekend in June.
When threatened with cancellation by the county health authorities, the organizing committee changed the name to the "Tuolumne Lumber Protest"

If protestors caused spikes....no focus on those assemblies...
But you can't put more than 25% capacity in a church.....
Hypocritical.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the coronavirus numbers in LA county as of yesterday 7/1/20.
You can compare them to my blog of 4/1/20 a see just how much the virus has increased and where in exactly 3 months. A lot of the increase is measured now because there are more testing sites but you can see many more cities have been added to the list and you can see exactly where the virus has exploded.

If you wonder why people protest police brutality watch this video from the other day where an officer full out pushes a woman in the FACE!
My bad, he doesn't push her....the officer full out PUNCHES her right in the face!
As you know EU agrees to re-open borders to 14 countries, but extends travel ban to US tourists;
US is becoming an international embarrassment, an international pariah so to speak (thanks to "do nothing" Trump).
With this rate, Dr Fauci predicts we will have 100,000 new cases a day, that is not acceptable.
More economical shutdown and more deaths to come, and worst of all, we are not done with the fist wave of coronavirus. What do we expect when fall and winter comes this year, it is truly scary situation.
and you trust Fauci....the guy who told all of us we didn't need to worry..
The guy who said we didn't need to wear masks.....
Trust him as far as I can throw him....LOL.
"and you trust Fauci....the guy who told all of us we didn't need to worry.."
Trust him or not, the infection numbers are increasing for sure. Nobody can predict what will be, they are just guessing based on their data.
"The guy who said we didn't need to wear masks..... "
Fauci didn't say we don't need to wear them but Sanjay Gupta on CNN did.
What the difference Jazz51 Trump supporters like yourself don't wear mask anyway?
I really think that a national mandate would help, because in that case, governor in each state don't have to deal with protestors who don't believe in wearing masks.
Wearing mask is more to do with infecting "other" people or your family members. It is a moral imperative.
At the beginning of this pandemic, I was hoping that the spread would slow down a bit with climate change, but this new coronavirus does not seem to be at all. We really ought to think about what we should do about it.
"Fauci didn't say we don't need to wear them but Sanjay Gupta on CNN did."
Actually Faucci did say it and around June 23 admitted to it but said it was because they were concerned that there would be nothing left for healthcare workers.
So, i guess you could say he lied for all the right reasons
Riots and looting really don't have you in close contact to people for a very long time.
Plus most of those people were wearing face covering so not to be recognized.
People like Crane try to bring that up like that was a main part of the protest.
It was unfortunate but it was only a brief time.
So as usual your bullshit is WRONG! !
Breif my ass... 👌
Soros is going to keep funding the chaos as a distraction that allows Biden to hide in the basement, create a spike in COVID-19, and watch the fake news media blame the world's problems on trump.
The media even said that couple in St Louis "threatened protesters with guns as they peacefully walked by the house..." They broke into a private gated community and the crowd threatened the homeowners. Cuomo should resign from CNN for backing the mob on this event..

^^^^^^^^fucking racist^^^^^^^^

Looking at that vid where the woman gets punched... Happens more than you would think. I had a deputy tell me he is pro gender neutral... a face is a face, a bad person is a bad person and sometimes a bad face needs a punch.
I asked him if a gender neutral person my size or a 150 pounds less than my size was likely to need a punch... she said he would just shoot me in an equal gender neutral situation...
I for sure would rather get punched than shot... but showing open disrespect to a uniform cop was, for me, always a bad decision even if they were wrong.

Jackass33 People can read you racist comment for themselves.
https://www.humaniplex.com/blogs/652933/
comment 12 down (racist shit)
Dude go post in the blog you created with your OVAHERE profile.
The profile you created to speak in BS ebonics.
It all make sense now.
@straightman see this is whats fucked up. An officer punched a women right in the face and get a warning. If you punched an officer in the face you would get lengthy jail time.
DudeLebowski - Thank you for the numbers however did you take into account that if I take a test this week test positive then take another test every week for the next three weeks and all are positive that counts as 4 positive tests? They are not excluding duplicate test results in the numbers.
Yes we have problem that needs to be addressed. We need all TV stations to take 5 minutes each hour on the hour for the next three weeks and tell people how to wear a mask - If you are not covering your nose you are not helping! If you have elastic straps or tie downs you must use both yo secure your mask in place.
To many people walking around with the mask on wrong.....
Just my .02 cents.....
If you test positive why would you keep testing yourself every week? You should go get treatment.
”and you trust Fauci....the guy who told all of us we didn't need to worry..”
I don't recall when he said that, but according to NYT article, there was a confusion among scientists as well.
Some scientists warned "infections can actually be transmitted during the incubation period" earlier in the pandemic, but it took for a while until the rest of them finally agreed with that.
"How the World Missed Covid-19's Silent Spread" June 27th, By Matt Apuzzo et al
You need the subscription to read it, so I did not link it.
There were also protests against quarantine and wearing masks. I can't understand why people can't temporarily wear a mask, it's not too much to ask.
"I don't recall when he said that, but according to NYT article, there was a confusion among scientists as well."
Thrashy, you should try to get your mind straightened out.
It's so hard to watch you thrash around on these posts.
Nobody gives a shit what you recall
The interview where he admits it is on youtube
There is practically zero chance of catching this outdoors or from surfaces, that is now a KNOWN KNOWN.
The only time you need a mask is indoors OR when you are with people and NOT distancing.
It's that simple and neither you nor anybody else needs to over-fucking-complicate it.
And, please don't put anymore big graphs up that screw up the blog
Thank you
The latest: Dr. Barbara Ferrer, LA County's director of public health, has said the protests were in fact contributing to the spread of the virus.
From Mayor Garcetti, "“I talked again with Dr. Ferrer about that this morning. She does think some of the spread did come from our protests," he said. "It’s not the act of protesting – that’s a great and American thing to do no matter what your opinion is… but protesting without maintaining physical distancing, without wearing your mask, without having sanitizer – we just have to be smart. Whether you’re at a protest or at your home, whether in your workplace or whether you’re out shopping, these rules don’t change.”
So, yes the protests are contributing.
I wonder if the reason why protests aren't being called out more for contributing has to do with the fact it's hard to measure the signal from the noise, because other processes are contributing as well, or the politics of it, because it's politically incorrect to single out the protests.
Anyway, since they are contributing, the protests should end.
Politics 99%
Even some stupid epidemiologist said that protesting outweighed the danger of Covid
I would so fire his ass
Where's dumb doofy when we need a Bam!
