Some city run beaches may be open in OC. You can Google "city run beaches open July 4th"

Thanks LA, Ventura and Orange counties. Beaches in Santa Barbara we're open as of Thursday evening but because they were afraid that everyone's going to come up they closed all beaches in Santa Barbara County yesterday morning...

Actually, San Diego beaches are still open this weekend but they'll be packed and I'm not gonna fight the crowds. Windansea Beach by La Jolla is kind of tucked away and usually less crowded but people are stir crazy and it's hot so I'll bet it will be full too.

^^ Dude just shoot yourself and get it over with. This way you will no longer have to worry about your germaphobia and we won’t have to read about it.
(For anyone reading above this is just sarcasm to point out the fact that Every time NR posts he reminds me of the aliens in “Mars Attacks” when the old lady starts singing. NR PLEASE DO NOT SHOOT YOURSELF. There is alway HOPE, even for you.)

Diamond well I admire you standing up for your friend I do not agree with his chicken little posts every damn day. He has a right to believe what he wants and I do too. Please consider:
We flattened the curve and 130,000 Americans died instead of 2.2MM, correct? Half of the unfortunate deaths came from our elderly citizens, and CDC readiness is now much improved. We have improved treatment and care of CV-19 inflicted, and we have also rolled out testing for a large part of the country, where preciously no test for COVID existed.
Seems like everything so far has gone to plan as near as I can tell. Our testing efficiency is now allowing greater number and with it more positive test outcome, but significantly fewer deaths. Isn’t this part called HERD IMMUNITY and just the next logical step in a successful pandemic plan?
IOWs, open the beaches.

the OC beaches are closed...but the Cypress College Swap meet was open and people weren't wearing masks....draw your own conclusions

The curve has been unflattened. Evidence is significantly increased positivity and hospitalizations. We need to reflatten it again. Hence, bars, indoor restaurants, and beaches are closed.
If people responsibly social distanced and worse masks, we wouldn't be needing to do this. Beaches can be one of the safest places to be, if people just didn't end up cramming them.
I went to the Newport Beach peninsula the other day for exercise, but it was way too crammed. The boardwalk, not the beach. Very few people were wearing masks.
People just don't have a clue.
Thank you Diamond Girl for defending me!

I keep on hearing about herd immunity, but this is the truth about herd immunity and COVID:
We're extremely far away from herd immunity. OC has like less than 5% of the population having had COVID. We need like 60-80% of the people to have had COVID. No where in the world, even NYC or Sweden, are we even remotely close to this figure, from computational estimates to antibody studies.
Getting 60-80% of the people to have had COVID will simply bring too much pain and suffering.
Our best bet is a vaccine, which is why EVERYONE should get the vaccine when it comes out. Because if enough people get it, THAT will cause herd immunity. The vaccine isn't just for you, it's also to protect others via herd immunity.

Whatever you guys are always picking on him. I feel bad. He’s a nice person. That’s all. Everyone’s opinion is prob incorrect anyway. What we’re dealing with is something that isn’t allowed to be known to the public. For all we know it’s something for us to go nuts over while they’re doing something completely different in the background. This way nobody pays attention to what it is they’re really doing.

Florida has been averaging 10,000 new cases a day for the past 4 days. Thats more than New York had at its peak. Its very possible that many New Yorkers have gone to Florida for the summer and brought the virus with them. On top of that the Governor there has been in constant denial about the virus from day one.
LA county have over 3,000 cases on Friday July 3rd. That was a record too.
