Terrible. They might have to shut those states down. This was completely avoidable with better leadership and if people took COVID seriously.

Why is this bad news?
We're that much closer to herd immunity
You two just love the Gloom

Why is this bad news?
Answer: hospitals are all booked up and bleeding money.
Here is an unspoken truth. COVID is about to knock out the American medical system.
A few nurse and doctor friends of mine are being informed that their hospital/medical facility is going into bankruptcy and they may need a good plan B.
The treatments that pay the hospital bills are not being taken care of, and the hospitals are out of money. And the situation keeps getting worse. I know a few doctors who are looking to work at Sprouts for extra $$$.

These large number of daily new cases might find their way to Southern California soon. We're sure on our way heading there if we don't wise up, and you know what....
That would mean lockdowns again.
So wise up, people, so that doesn't happen.
Social distance and wear masks. Period.

Best way to reach herd immunity is via vaccine, not via becoming infected from the virus.
"Based on what experts know about the contagiousness of the novel coronavirus, "critical threshold for achieving that herd protection for COVID-19 is between 50% and 66%", according to Dr Justin Lessler, Epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins University.
That translates somewhere between 150 million and 216 million Americans need to be immune to stop the virus from spreading throughout the country.
The current US infection numbers (accumulated) is 2.8 million, and it would take very long time to reach herd immunity by natural selection. Plus no doctors at this point knows how long immunity would last for each person recovered from infection.
|
|
150 million infection by natural selection = 1.5 million death (if only 1% death rate)

Stop perseverating over the new announced cases. It is based on new test. Imagine what it would be if everyone was tested weekly.
What matters is death rate and hospital bed availability.
The hospitals are not failing because they are handling Covid Cases, they are failing because all elective surgeries etc.. are postponed and no one is visiting for non critical care.
The idea was to flatten the curve, no one suggested we could totally stop the spread. We are just buying time hoping they find a cure before it kills members of your family.

"What matters is death rate and hospital bed availability"
That is only "half" correct, more the infection, more the death.
Let us see the death number for next few weeks.

More fake news ?

Lol i like how the leftist media is saying NY has a lower hospitalization than the bad red state that has reopened. When we all know its because Como already killed off most of the old people.

I honestly don't take coronavirus pandemic as political issues. This virus is still here, and since we don't have vaccine yet, we all have to deal with it. The virus doesn't care if you are right or left or in the middle.

You guys will bat this back and forth like a tennis ball.
This is the best apolitical take on why we all have a different moral matrix and end up weaponizing every damn piece of data.
Those of you who just love the fight for its own sake won't watch
Those who actually give a shit about a reasonable discussion will

"Here is an unspoken truth. COVID is about to knock out the American medical system."
You don't know that but you just love to bring the gloom "))
Those doctors are all getting jobs at "Scrotes", that bar with the pandemic deniers singles nite
|
|
I DO know that. These doctors are family and are asking me if one of my rentals is available as they may loose their house if they loose the job.

Section 8 noted...

Gloom guy, tell the truth.
As was said above, doctors losing their jobs cause a-holes like u got the medical system tied up with nothing to do.
No "elective" surgeries, people too scared to use the medical system, guess u fucked up.....unless
Covid is some kinda elaborate scheme for you to get some rental income.
Your data point is anecdotal, Gloom guy
I know health care workers and they're losing their asses cause of your bullshit gloom
