New study in PNAS: 50% of people who spread the virus may be asymptomatic. Just shows the importance of social distancing and wearing masks even if you feel fine. So just do it!
nightrider....
Of course, the WHO said otherwise......
The experts can't even agree on ANYTHING
and then they walk it back.....LOL
This is a shit show of the highest degree.

"By the way I work at every hospital you have heard of. Most docs I talk to believe this inflated curve is politically motivated. None of the facilities I go to have filled ICUs and there are no bodies in the hallway or lines of folks trying to get in. Everything is empty. This is best time I have ever seen to go to the ER, all are empty."
Disease is not politically motivated. Most doctors that I know believe that Southern California, Arizona, Texas, and Florida are having a big problem with cases. It's real, guys. It has been reported last night that Arizona has 100 ICU beds in the whole state. That's it. California isn't as bad yet, but hospitalizations and ICU's due to COVID-19 in the OC are at an all-time high during the COVID era. If ER's are empty, it's because people are afraid of going to the hospital to get COVID, which is a shame.

jazz,
That statement by the WHO was wrong when it was delivered, and most other experts said so. I don't understand why you can't understand that, unless you want to use this as an excuse for your own political bias.
Also, You simply don't understand that COVID IS A NEW DISEASE. New information is coming in quickly. What may have possibly seemed the case two months ago may not be true with more information.
Arizona has had capacity issues going back to March....there has been an acute shortage of doctors and hospitals in that State for awhile...so nothing new there....
Much worse now.
I am saying this is a shit show....
The experts don't know shit, but they keep speaking....
If you don't know the answer, shut the fuck up is what is needed.
Every time the WHO or Fauci or someone else opens their mouths, a week later, a day later, an hour later they change their minds.
Yes, this is a moving target...but the experts should not speak until and unless they have something factual...not total and complete speculation. Sometimes it seems as they are speaking out of their asses.....
It's amazing you can say that while Trump has said nothing about COVID that doesn't come out of his smelly asshole.
The U.S. has not issues....oops, we now have problems
Don't need to wear masks...oops....you need a mask.
Very little asymptomatic spread...ooops, we made a mistake....there is spread.
and the shit list goes on and on.
He is getting his information from the experts who keep changing their minds.....
If I was Trump I would say, these fuckers don't know shit, so we will do what we think is best.....
"The U.S. has not issues....oops, we now have problems
Don't need to wear masks...oops....you need a mask.
Very little asymptomatic spread...ooops, we made a mistake....there is spread.
and the shit list goes on and on."
US didn't have many with covid after the lockdown, but because people have been much more active outside the home, the situation has clearly changed, even in most states.
We didn't realize how much asymptomatic spread there was and didn't have enough masks for doctors. As soon as these things changed, then the advice about masks changed.
This is a dynamic situation, for everyone including the experts. Don't understand your problem with that.
Trump is caught between a rock and a hard place.....
He knows the economy is fragile and needs all the support possible....so he is trying to be encouraging.
The experts want to just shut everything down....oh well, that is the end of our economy as we know it. The government can't keep giving people money....we have to borrow it from other nations...so very shortly China will own us even more than they currently do now.....
Absent our economy opening and staying open as best it can, we all better learn to speak Chinese.....
Trump has done what he wanted to since the beginning and only half-heartedly listened to the doctors.
If he's listen to Fauci, we'd have shut down earlier and have far fewer people dead.
Nightrider....yes it is dynamic...
But the experts are doing 180 flip flops.....that is irresponsible.
If you don't know, don't say....because we have politicians making decisions based on the 'experts' who are blowing in the wind.
It is OK to say, we are not sure about the asymptomatic spread.....we are still investigating.
Why did Fauci say no masks are needed? If he was concerned about the PPE supplies, he should have said we need to focus mask use for the people with the greatest exposure....
But he said no masks, then said masks.....he and most of the other experts lack credibility.
Western Europe and parts of Asia seem to be able to succeed at getting cases down so they can open up the economy. Why can't we? What's the difference? They in fact claim to use our own experts opinions to help them make their decisions.
The difference is leadership, starting with Trump.
YOU are dead wrong on Fauci and Trump.
Do some research on the time line....Fauci was saying all was good even after Trump initiated the travel bans.......
"It is OK to say, we are not sure about the asymptomatic spread.....we are still investigating."
They DO say that, all the time.
Europe is surging again??????
Trump's travel ban was a joke.
He let 8,000 people through from China. He was too late with Euope. He bought us time and then did nothing with it and didn't listen to his advisors.
Not the dumb shit at the WHO who said otherwise and then had to walk it back.....
RT is Russian propaganda.
This is all that needs to be said.
Trump would call this "winning!"
It is the hallmark of a good scientist that he/she acknowledges where they were previously mistaken and revise their advice/conclusions based on the most recently available evidence.
Whatever Fauci/WHO/etc. may have said in Jan/Feb/Mar was based on admittedly limited data. Since then, the data has pointed towards other conclusions. And we are still not at the point of completely understanding how this virus spreads and replicates.
Do not mistake the self-correcting mechanisms of science for the expedient flip-flopping of politicians. These are two very different things.
"Fauci said that the reason masks were not being strongly encouraged in the beginning is because there was an extreme shortage among first responders and hospitals. Whether that is true or not, I do not know, but it I do recall mask shortage being reported as an issue. Remember when the docs were making makeshift masks ?"
Moreover, most of the early arguments against wearing masks were that it would cause people to touch their faces more often. At the time, there was tremendous concern that the virus lived on surfaces for days at a time, so adjusting a mask with contaminated hands was a potential transmission vector.
Since then, public health scientists seem to have coalesced on the opinion that airborne droplets are a much more serious problem. At that point, wearing a mask (along with social distancing) outweighed the risk of picking up the virus from your fingers.
The advice changed as our knowledge improved. This is how good science is done.

"New study in PNAS: 50% of people who spread the virus MAY BE asymptomatic."
Why even bother posting this? May be?
@Night-Rider... Trump's travel ban was a joke for sure. Though Trump's a JOKE himself period!!!!🤣🤣🤣

You're wasting your time trying to have a convo with @NR
He's no expert, just another guy in mom's basement in his underwear.
Also, been wrong so many times, I've lost count.
Then he makes up excuses like, well it's a NEW virus
Or, well i just changed my mind because the data changed
All just bullshit because HE DOES have a political agenda
If he knew his ass from a hole in the ground, he would have studied and understood how Japan beat the Covid, so far with a few hot spots but much more success than most. NOPE, NR just makes pronouncements as if he is the God of Covid and how it all works.
Maybe some of you might just think about the fact that we really DON'T have a system where the Feds just get to jump in and call the shots. That's not how it works, for better or worse, it's 50 states and we all heard the screaming when Trump said he was in charge........all 50 governators shouted "Bullshit"
Just.stop.posting,NR
You're a joke around these parts
And we know how you operate, GBD. You can't beat me on the facts, so you just get personal.
And for the record, I never said a 3-4% CFR. I started at 1%.
And CFR are useless anyway. IFR's are where it's at.
Well, now you are a confirmed liar, NR.
I'm not wasting my time going back to the blogs to find it but you said on NUMEROUS occasions that the numbers were 3.5% minimum.
Plus, your so called facts are basically quicksand.
'Nuff said, but I will be here to remind you that your are full of shit and you are now a liar also.
Congrats buddy!

Go back to those blogs. You'll never find them because they never existed!
All you are good at doing is insulting people, because, at the end of the day, you are an empty suit with no substance, and nothing to add to the dialogue. Can't even use your real HX ID because you are too chicken shit.
Go ahead now and deny your political agenda too, empty underwear........
It's hard not to become political when there is so much anti-science and anti-heatlh bullshit out there about COVID.
All you guys did some major cock blocking. All I’m trying to do is find some women who tested positive for antibodies because they would be the safest gamble right now. I’ve engaged in plenty of political debates here. That’s not what this is about!
Look, GBD, I'm sorry for getting personal. But there's no need to attack me personally either. We just disagree on the politics of this, that's all.
Chances of women who post ads everyday have been exposed are pretty good

I think too many people put too much trust in the government. I don’t mean that as a “don’t trust government statement (although ... don’t trust government lol)
But we expect them to have answers ... and they try to have answers... for things that are clearly not answerable yet.
Information is moving quickly. Knowledge is growing... but nobody has the answers... yet.
So... quit being pissed at Newsom. Quit being pissed at Trump. Quit being pissed at Faucci.
We press them for answers they don’t have.... then they give us what they know/believe at the moment. They have to because we are emo bitches and react to everything and can’t handle the truth about not knowing.
Then we get pissed when they are wrong.
I love Emo Bitches.
And back on topic.
I’ve been tested twice after suspected close calls. No infection.
But people who were at the same event did test positive. I got lucky to dodge a bullet.
Looks like it can spread by those not showing symptoms.
Thank you kaliforniakimmie.
Honesty is always so refreshing around here.
The safest bet is to just assume everybody is an asymptomatic carrier. There's probably gonna be millions of people on this planet who are gonna carry the virus, but never get sick. And asymptomatic carriers who have to work just to feed themselves will always place themselves in the public sphere, and can't socially distance.
It's gonna be up to you to lock yourself down, and your desires.
