Thank you for expressing your opinion KML. Their right is called Freedom of Speech. They are voluntarily waiving that right to rename their products. No one is forcing them to do this. I can let the OP speak for himself, but I think he is concerned about the chilling affect on our Freedom of Speech that is coming from self-censorship.
FYI, Trader Joe's was originally a California company, and the first store is still in Pasadena, but it was bought by the same German family that owns Aldi.

Simple. Change the labels to dull grey. Label everything generic:
Food, Vegetable. Asian Derived Flavors.Certified Originators as Sichuan, Western United States.
Food. Chocolate. Purity 95%
Food. Wine. Red. Year 2019
Food. Coffee. Arabica. Caffeinated.
Problem solved.

The issue with racism and the Trader Joe's products is pretty well explained on the petition.
Essentially Trader Joe's use of race tropes supports the establishment of the white POV as normal (i.e. Joe is normal, the others are different/abnormal) .
The Freedom of Speech issue is a non-issue. Trader Joe maintains their full Freedom of Speech and may continue to sell those "racist" products as currently labeled. BUT then they would have to accept the consequences of that and risk alienating a good portion of their market.

This was continued from a previous blog where she said the word “Jew” was a derogatory term. I explained then (I thought politely) it depends on the usage.
She never responded or acknowledged the comment.
Now I see that she simply feels like any disagreement... or counter opinion is “negative.”
Not sure political/social commentary blogs are the place for that level of sensitivity. There are other blog topics like “your favorite flower” where disagreements will be minimal.

Concerning Trader Joe’s... When the pendulum swings... It often swings too far in the other direction. It’s normal.
Like the call to eliminate the PawPatrol cartoon because it falsely presents police as a fun, kind and positive presence.
That’s an extreme. When the heat dies a little ... things will settle a little more back towards the middle.
The needle will have moved left... but not as far as it feels or appears now.
