a tire can get shredded on a city freeway at lunchtime. that's why, AAA is there. They will tow you to a tire shop, in 20, and you're on your way.

You can shred a brand new tire on the freeway if it takes you awhile to be able to pull off the road.
A blowout from a large puncture or hitting something fairly large can cause a total tire failure and loss of air. Once the tire loses most of its air, the rim now rides on the tire itself.
The longer that rim riding happens the more tire damage is done and in very short order, you can shred a tire.

A few months back a lady driving a late model BMW pulled into the parking spot next to my car. Her wheels were turned all the way right and the inside of the tire cough my eye, the inside was down to the metal cord. I assume bad alignment from hitting parking stops or curbs. I did bring it to her attention.

Tire with low pressure build up a lot of heat, and then shred. Hard to notice.if it’s a back tire.

Mine has saved me a couple of times.
Tires tend to shred under 10 psi. The side walls just can't handle that, unless they are run flat tires.
Plus having tall wheels with skinny side walls are no help.
But your car looks cool with wagon wheels.

Also there’s a mobile tire company that works in the IE/ off the 15fwy, they are affordable. If I can remember the name I’ll msg you so you can have it just in case.

Shredded...pbbbbb... Naaa... The tire was just fine probably get another 100 feet or so out of it. Also you still have rim so that's at least another extra few hundred feet.
(Never let me give anyone car advice btw)

Maybe because my car is 19 years old it was towed home twice in the last nine months. First time I probably could have drove the two miles home, the harmonic balancer separated and the outer ring fell off. The water pump is on the timing belt so no worries about overheating.
Second time the starter died. They towed the car but wouldn't give me a ride because of covid19.

Wow, I’ve never seen a tire that jacked up before. If the car is brand new, the tires also have limited warranty. Check in your glovebox for your tire warranty. They usually have their own roadside service. Almost always your tires are run flats.

I've been picked up in less than 15 minutes before. One time I waited over 2 hours.
I've been leasing cars for the last 20 years. I think I've been stranded in every one of them except for one of them. I'll let you guys guess what make of car. (These were all under warranty) .
My personal vehicle is a classic. I've been stranded once in it, when the clutch went out. In all the decades I've owned it, it's only broken down that one time.

Gawd.... My very good friend DIED & other's had to go out of state for the funeral & I was the only trusted person to come feed the dog's and birds.
I was living in L.A. then & had sold my car previously years before cuz I didn't need it in the city, & my ride flaked the morning I'm supposed to leave....far from a girl bitching about a flat tire in the desert in the middle of the night !! Which is scary.. Thus is why my comment... It's not a good idea for a young, beautiful girl to be in that situation, I'm sure it could have been avoided.
I apologize if my comment was so "effed up" IT SEEMS REALITY BITES AROUND HERE WITH SOME ANYWAY !!
