I took 20 dollars in change to a restaurant. They said they did not need change. My mistake.
So I said how about a third party post dated check drawn on a Chinese bank ?

Well I fully understand I just went through the same thing at a restaurant out here in Vegas instead my total came up to 22.15 and kept all the change which was confusing at 1st. At least they asked you if you wanted to donate they just kept my change😂

Fact check: Yes, there's a national coin shortage. Here's why
Why is the U.S. facing a coin shortage?
As the spreading coronavirus and resulting business closures crippled economic activity in the United States, the circulation of coins dropped off significantly. The U.S. Mint, which manufactures the nation's coin supply, also decreased staffing in response to the pandemic.
As the nation's businesses have reopened, demand for coins has exceeded the available supply.

I had three ammo cans of rolled quarters dimes and nickles, last week I cashed in one can for about $850. I don't think I'm going to cash in the other two. I will use them to have exact coin
change when shopping.

So you plan on needing $1700 worth of change over the next few months?
What a wonderful world !
At my age that much change will last the rest of my life.

What are pennies made out of now.
I saw a penny that had been run over on the street and it didn't even look like a coin anymore.
Looks like real cheap cooper painted steel.

Cashier at Ralphs did that with 30Cents change, she kept pointing to this tiny sheet of paper on the plastic screen saying that it makes it says right there. If your not giving change get a bold sign at the entrance not 8pt print at checkout.
Ill have to sort pennies and starting carrying zinc pennies for those situations.

Pennies are filled with Zinc.
I have 3 ammo cans filled with, well, ammo.
Those Coinstar machines must not be very busy these days.
Ammo cans are very versatile. The .556 or .223 cans are best for storing rolled coins.
