Protect the Federal assets and then let them burn the fucker to the ground.....
The mayors of these cities need to deal with accountability and live with consequences. If they want their city buildings defaced, damaged or burned....that is on them. The residents need to stand up and march on City Hall demanding law and order.
Or even more simply, send correspondence to the Mayor indicating they will vote against that person and probably will take their tax paying ability to another city....

Insanity. Leaving places like Chicago to let the Democrats run it themselves has led to chaos, and sending federal troops in or any other fed involvement will not solve anything.
Stop sending money to places like Chicago. Cut all funding until these places meet a certian benchmark (shooting deaths under a pre determined per day limit for instance)

In general, demanding that protesters be "locked up" or maimed by federal agents and questioning the legality of their protests, is hypocritical coming from anyone that uses this site. Especially when by all accounts, everyone on this site may or may not be doing illegal things. We should be the last people to talk, given how we want to legalize sex work and understand that "illegal" does not necessarily mean "Wrong".
Again, you can talk all the shit you want about protesters, whether they are peaceful (they are) or violent (they are not), but at the end of the day that shit doesn't matter. What matters is the Constitution. What matters is the precedent that DHS and ICE are setting if we allow them to. What matters is that if we do not hold the administration at bay, they can move the goal posts at any point and that might mean that they come for any one of us. Is what's happening in Portland different and scary for some, sure. But that doesn't make it any less valid or any less American.
