I'm not sure how one corrupt person invalidates the whole idea that black people have been historically disadvantaged and mistreated in the USA, even long, long after actual slavery ended.
That sounds an awful lot like the way the FBI tried to invalidate the whole civil rights movement in the 60s because Martin Luther King Jr. cheated on his wife. Yes, MLK was unfaithful.

I DO care, because being untruthful about any part undermines the part that is true. Zealots never learn that lesson, liberal or conservative!
But then again, I don't remember any white folks giving a rat's ass that traditional history texts completely ignored the many ways that Northerners also profited from Southern slavery - making farm equipment, literally making chains that were used on slaves, buying slave-produced cotton, running the ships of the slave trade, running the ships of the cotton trade, running the banks behind all of it, and so on. Just let the Southerners take all the blame.
I'll bet a lot of those Northern people running those factories and ships and banks back in days of slavery said, "Hey, I don't own slaves. I'm not part of the problem."
But they were. They were all part of the institution of slavery.
In modern times, I certainly don't beat people up or shoot them without cause. But if I let police do that and I don't speak up, I really AM part of the problem.
