Not 100% sure as he did not make it clear, but I think he is targeting new state Voting laws with court challenges?
To go after audits would be silly. Audits are enshrined as a state right. Going after state senate authorized audits would only make the Dems look more guilty. Every state delegation that has visited AZ has come away impressed as a 'model' for their own state audit which is where the momentum is right now. Plus, discovery would be a bitch for the DOJ lol.
OTOH, by FiB and DOJ inaction and Barr's prior statements, any audit revelations now would make the DOJ look extremely bad.
I think he is blowing smoke to show his administration he will fight to protect the boss and keep his job.

So even after states conducted their own own official audits and found nothing, or that 60 lawsuits were thrown out of count because there was no evidence of fraud that anyone could present that would overturn the election results (the fraud they did find were by Republicans), or that the current “audits” are being conducted by partisan hacks and a joke of a company called “Cyber Ninjas” that doesn’t even have a legitimate methodology to evaluating the votes and that Arizona now has to throw away all of the voting machines they touched, or the fact that the audits have already been described as “clown shows” by Arizona Republican legislators who originally supported the them.
There is a greater likelihood of Trump going to jail than him becoming President again.

Clearly the feds see an oncoming storm here. The number of states stepping up to audit is growing significantly. Democrats see their "recipe for success" crumbling here.
And yes... there is a clear difference between the forensic audits being done now with expanded technology compared to the blind recounts done last year with potentially fraudulent ballots on suspect machines.
The fact that no courts wanted to hear any evidence back in Nov/Dec was a problem.
The feds see that HR1 most likely wont happen so they want challenge states to incorporate elements of it into state law. Its fed overreach. Constitution clearly puts state legislatures in charge of election law and certification.

All of the battleground states have already conducted legitimate audits that found nothing. 60 lawsuits filed by Trump and his supporters have been thrown out of court, even by judges put in by Trump. Even Republican officials have repeatedly said that the election was the fairest we’ve ever had in the country.
To have a partisan “audit”, that has inadequate controls, that is not being monitored by state officials, will call into question our voting system and will weaken democracy. That is the harm the “clown show” of an audit will have on this country.
