Depends on what you are looking for,
Lucky Balwin's is a good place to get beer ok food.
Arbor is good food.
Green street restaurant is good
Dan modern Noodels is good
and also depends on where you close to lake or fair oaks... and what kind of food you want

sushi, GoGo sushi on colorado. all other sushi places overcharge
american, Lucky Boy, Yardhouse, Green St cafe Le Grande Orange
there arent any really good chinese food spots
must try Tarantinos on green st. italian

alexander steakhouse used to have pretty decent happy hour too but not sure they do that anymore.
maybe more south pasadena but Julienne quire good for brunch and to go gourmet sandwiches

If you're looking for a cool sports bar go to Rocco's on Green Stree. From 4 to 7 pm they have 2 for 1 drinks and the food there is way better than Barney's. Barney's food is the worst crap ever for a "nicer" place.

there is a bar in the ally accross from the burke williams spa that is good and has live music tuesday through saturday
