Charge Weisselberg with enough to get him to flip. If he won’t, they just need to find his pressure point and squeeze. Charge his family members for failure to properly report income and take them for a perp walk. That will probably be enough to do it. No father would choose a boss over his family.

staying under 50 percent of taxes in any of those years is pretty important...under 25 percent is another threshold
this is stuff that is picked up in irs audits...not so much state audits. they kinda focus on brutal sales tax audits
I would say there is almost zero chance this is a jail time offense for this guy... let's see what else they come up with

Weisselberg will not go to jail for Trump. He knows that Trump will turn any anyone to save his own ass (ask Michael Cohen).
So first step is to parade Weisselberg in handcuffs on TV, then threaten to do the same to Weisselberg’s sons who also worked for and with Trump. This will force him to flip.
Then bring additional stronger charges against Trump that you can more easily prove with Weisselberg’s help.
Trump’s banker quite Deutsche Bank, which was also being investigated for the loans it was making to Trump. So prosecutors already have evidence and a witness on the other side of Trump’s transactions.
There is no way Trump wasn’t minimizing the value of his real estate holdings to the IRS (which is why prosecutors now have 2 million pages of Trump’s tax returns) while inflating the values to Deutsche Bank to get larger loans. That is illegal and easily provable fraud.
The prosecutors are just firming up their case to move forward with the best hand they can pull together.
