Advantages are cheap rates for a nice place that most likely has room service. $75 most of the time.
I used to use a few of the Marriotts in San Diego for some extended afternoon meetups then check out by 6pm.
They way it works is you book with the front desk in the morning or noon. Not the 1-800 reservations people. It depends on availability so it's never a guaranteed thing.
Not sure if anyone would do 1/2 day rate for late check in and stay overnight... never tried... I always gotta go home.

Some people, like me, can arrange meetings during the day only.
Businesses that have a second shift only are out of the question.
Why not convene a few meetings in the middle of the day?

You can book the room without any info so if things don’t work out you’re not bound to having to stay
They’re very convenient but I’ve found out that many will have a really high deposit when you check in

day use - sure but hate the stares from the maids who are always stalking the hallways during daytime.
who hasnt had the knock knock - room cleaning while in the middle of a very important meeting.

I like using the Resort Pass app .. I mainly use it for poolside action at different hotels but I find that they do offer day room uses as well
