I own some land in the mountains about 70 miles southwest of Williams Arizona. A fire roared through it and left the land pretty bare but it has a couple of spring fed creeks on it and 'bout a year after the fire I bought it for pretty cheap. Year or 2 later I heard about a beaver rescue in Colorado and after we met and talked and they came out to look/evaluate the place, they brought me 4, 2 males and 2 females and put one pair on each creek. In the 8 or 9 years they've been on the land they've completely changed the landscape. Of course there are more of them now, 12 or 14 all together, but the amount of animals that have come back is amazing - muskrats, deer, coyotes, skunks, raccoons etc. and even saw a mountain lion drinking at one of the ponds. It's awesome! And all the riparian trees and bushes like aspen and cottonwoods are back too.
I'm really flabbergasted at how fast and far it's come from what it was and all because I brought those 4 guys in. And, because they do what they do, they've put a ton of water back into the aquifers that run under that land. They've done such a good job my 'neighbors' that have water on their land wound up contacting rescues and bringing them in on their land a few years ago.
Course, I didn't think any of this would happen. I just heard about the rescue and that they were looking for land owners to 'adopt' them They were hoping to repopulate the species in the west but mostly they were getting over crowded with rescues resulting from development. I just thought it'd be cool to have beavers on the land and fun to watch their progress.
Have to admit, I love watching them go about their business during the day when ever I get a chance to spend time there. I can watch them from sun up to sun down and never get bored. The land's undeveloped, doubt I'll ever do anything with it, so everything living on it is free to do what they're supposed to do without having to deal with people, other then the 2 guys that patrol it for me.

Picturing a small crew of beavers showing up at a desolate new job site, looking over some plans and putting on their little beaver hard hats and getting to work. Months or years later they've built an oasis that all the local wildlife enjoys. I need this from Pixar.
