Some of us silently note the date.
Elvis would have been 86.

i remember that day...listening to it on the radio in a trailer down in MEX...just getting back from fishing
probably helps that I had a picture holding my half-eaten fish from the shark my cousin caught at the same time.

Awwww c'mon every generation needs some creepy popstar. The latest in "Who?" is Gen-Z's reaction to Britany Spears.
"Hey, whadda ya know Britany Spears is performing again"
"Who?"
"Oh c'mon you know the crazy chick who shaved her head"
...
"The girl who get's kicked into the pit *This is Sparta!*...you know"
"I have no idea who that is"
"Google it"
*googles name. Nope. no idea*
"Oh jeeze, well what about Elvis"
"Wasn't he some singer?"

^@JuneMoon you’ve gotta at least love the remix A little less conversation by Junkie XL. Better than the original IMO.

Elvis was important because he helped bring Black R&B to the white youth audience in the 50s, under the guise of rock n roll. He made music seem dangerous, and scared the crap out of parents. Col. Parker ruined Elvis by putting him in a succession of lousy musical movies. Elvis also surrounded himself with a bunch of "yes men", who let him get fat and messed up.

6 years from now, we'll call it 50.

I loved Elvis, but he was a victim of his own success. He couldn’t go out anywhere without being mobbed.

To honor his passing, I had a deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwich today.
Now, I'm sitting on the bowl waiting for the magic to happen.
