Stupidity at its greatest!!!
BULLCHIT LOL. I went to Sturgis last year, the two that died in motorcycle crashes, they tried to blame on Covid. The larp is unfukinbelievable.
Mean while 99.5% made full recovery.

I still get carded & ride an Indian..u mad?
ride and Indian that's racist dude

I always get a smile & a thumbs up from Indians (dot, not feather..those too though) when they see my bike. Don’t have the heart to tell them..”no..Wrong Indian”..I just wave back.

OK, one article said they had traced 178 cases to the Sturgis Rally. There were over 500,000 people at that rally. That is .000356 infection rate....
That article also stated,
"Virus cases were already on the rise when the rally started, and it's difficult to measure just how much the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is to blame in a region where local fairs, youth sports leagues and other gatherings have resumed."
The other article did state the following:
"In an email to CBS News, Daniel Bucheli, spokesman for the South Dakota Department of Health, said, "COVID-19 case spikes are following a national trend being experienced in every state, not just South Dakota."
"Regarding cases surrounding the Sturgis rally, our department has only been able to link 39 cases directly to this event," Bucheli said. "It is important to mention that Meade County currently has a lower vaccination rate than other counties in the state. Fully vaccinated residents in this county is 45.1%, versus 55.94% for the state as a whole."
But of course, absent actual linkage to the rally, it is the main stream media and people like the OP to blast this as a super spreader.
People need to be able to show cause-effect relationships. I didn't watch the Angels last night or the night before and they lost 5-0 and 10-6 . I did watch the game on August 24 and they won 14-8. So we can conclude that when I watch, the Angels win and when I don't watch, they lose....
The contact tracers are showing small numbers.....but people are still getting the virus...but that is happening across the country, even in mask wearing states.

^Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
But the truth is..."There is evidence in [a] paper that Sturgis increased infections across the United States," Elizabeth Stuart, a statistician and associate dean at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health who helped review the San Diego center's study, told CBS MoneyWatch. "But do I believe that number is 200,000 or more? I am not sure."
But there are confounders here as well. There may be a seasonal pattern to COVID, and hitting these Western states around this time of year could be part of this.
"People need to be able to show cause-effect relationships. "
Yeah. Easier said than done. A good retrospective observational study that controls for confounders could also be effective. Look at the Israeli study that shows reinfection is far less frequent than getting infected after having the vaccine.

^Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
But as you are well aware, people are running with scraps of data that are not provable.
I am not saying Sturgis didn't spread the virus, but the health officials don't have proof, and as you stated, there are confounders, including the smaller percentage of vaccinated individuals in that county.
The OP specially called the event a super spreader and noted a 'surge' in cases. Still no proof of causation.
Yes, easier said than done.
If not provable, MSM needs to shut the fuck up.....
Maybe Facebook, Instagram, etc. should flag these news articles as not factual.

Different year, same narrative.
Summer full of BLM protests & burning down businesses..not a super spreader
People gathering on motorcycles...responsible for 50% of all new Covid cases.
We have reached the exponential apex of stupidity and from here it will increase at an uncontrollable rate.
"Summer full of BLM protests..not a super spreader"
I agree that narrative by the media and by many epidemiologists (unfortunately) was to ignore the potential spread from these protests for political reasons.
I was surprised by this.

Who cares about cases? Show the number of actual covid/flu deaths..
Bring the gloom.
No spirit in riding a motorcycle in the open fresh air? Interesting
Someone ask for a body count?
178 verified covid via contact tracing.
31 dead in Meade County alone.

It ain't the heat that gets ya. It is the gigantic hail. Many an afternoon with no place to hide.

Lollapalooza in Chicago, Obama's Birthday Party and oh yeah that 200,000 un-vaxed illegals per month since Biden got we are busing to all parts of the US without telling people...Super spreader...

Let me pack my bag. The reaper will need to catch an R1.

Folks online making jokes about motorcycles being up for sale soon.
Damn!

I'm probably going to do the Black Hills ride but not during Sturgis. Maybe earlier in the year before it gets too hot. I don't think the SO is going to let me go without her unless I take my Suzuki.
Enjoy your trip on the Suzuki...

That would be an ass kicker

dty in the summer of 1976 I rode my Z1 to Alabama and I did ride through New Orleans just to say I've been there. On the trip home somewhere in Texas I met a Canadian guy also riding a Z1. We rode together until he turned off for Phoenix. What a coincidence the next year a friend and I rode to Canada and our first stop was Stanley park, I saw the Z1 from last year go by. He recognized my bike too and they came back. We all hung out for a few hours then went on our way. Got rained on seven of the nine days we was there. Good trip.

That would be an ass kicker
I probably need to take a couple of four or five hundred mile trips on that bike before setting out to South Dakota. I've only done a few two hundred mile trips but they were comfortable. That new seat makes a big difference. Maybe a five gallon tank which would give me a 250 mile range between fill ups.

Israel is one of the best vaccinated countries in the world.
Their recent outbreak of the Covid-D variant of the virus in Israel has yielded some interesting results:
1. 40% of new COVID cases in Israel were previously vaccinated.
2. Only 1% of new COVID cases are people that have been previously infected.
Therefore, it appears that the only way to get rid of COVID is to get COVID.
