With price of wood through the roof now I would think Noose'm would outlaw toothpicks next.
I hear the leftists in Sacramento spent tons of money to ban plastic straws but yet you still see them everywhere.

Depends on who's wood. Usually wood has to pay to be used.

we wash em...just stick all the used stuff in a pillow case and throw it in the washing machine...q-tips actually get a lil more fluffy, which i like...really helps with the next ear cleaning
doesn't work great for the toothpicks though, they get a little warped...BUT we get that crap meat smell off, and at least get another use out of them
the sorting, out of the dryer, is a pain in the ass...not quite as bad as underwear and socks for the whole family
can't imagine we ain't saving 20 bucks a year though...so there's that
