There's always the cold refrig case at the AM-PM store. Sushi comes in a styrofoam sleeve and is plastic shrink-wrapped for your protection. Grab the ones further in the back of the cold case, since they may be a day or three fresher.

Albertson's or Von's too

San Shi Go in Newport is probably one of the tops in California, but it's pretty pricey. I think I dropped almost $1,100 on two people omakase and a couple bottles of Sake.
They don't tell you how much, they just ask you if you want to keep going lol
I've had sushi all over California, San Shi Go is definitely up there if you're in OC

Yagi Sushi in Anaheim
Owned and operated by Japanese not Chinese or Korean 😜

Fukada if you want a place that specializes in Japanese rice and noodle dishes. Rude frickin' service at times but the food is great.
Also...
$1,100 for Japanese food? Eh, for that rate I'll book a flight and look for a place in Ginza

Buddha's Favorite in Newport Beach!

was all excited to try this sushi...a place in calif, got what they thought was the best sushi chef and paid him 250-300k per year(money no object)...so just had to be out of this world??
NOPE, it was fine though, and definitely high-end...not earth-shattering...i might have been expecting "a reach-around" while eating it, so was a tad disappointed with the extra expectations
other places
loved sushiwave off newport blvd off the 55 freeway. been about 15 years though, but think they are still getting good reviews....90 percent of was take home as it was off the freeway
Taiko Japanese Restaurant
14775 Jeffrey Rd, Irvine, CA

sushi yagi in anaheim hills is the place, not your average run of the mill den, these guys have a real menu of fish you'll not find most places unless you visit nobu or other high end places
and they have a proper assortment of cold saki, including my fav, kubota manju. not cheap, but it's the best
|
