You guys are thinking too simplistic. There's plenty of research that hasn't been done that should be.
How often is someone injured by a firearm in America?
Why, how and what kinds of weapons are used?
What are the underlying causes?
What's the relationship between shooter and victim?
What evidence-based, scalable programs work best to help prevent criminal shootings, accidents and suicides?
etc...

And, probably by many states and certainly local jurisdictions
That information is what the researchers study, then make a fancy report

I tend to look at who is pushing/funding the research? It is certainly not anyone that is pro-gun. So then whos left? Those pushing to take our guns. How unbiased is this research going to be? One can assume that the findings will be in favor of removing every gun from every home. Something the liberals have been trying to do for years.

I asked a Judge in the family before he passed for his thoughts on Gun control. He stated that it wasn’t needed, the laws are already on the books, the issue is enforcing existing laws. He said that politicians that push Gun Control are doing it out of self interest, it’s a facade. He stated that Guns are used predominantly defensively in the US, but the politicians use emotion on the public. The solution is to enforce existing laws. He went on to say that the push for patient rights resulted in the closing of state mental institutions. Those people are now on the streets untreated and you can’t force someone into treatment…. Hmmm, enforce existing laws, what a concept.
