Pipeline leak. Could be maintenance issue, could be an accident like one of those container ships out there dragging its anchor. I don’t know if that pipeline was buried under the sea bed or not.

Very upsetting, and the oil rig should be sued, assets frozen, and management charged with criminal negligence. Sadly, nothing will happen to those POS corporate dooshbags.

Apparently that company has a long record of noncompliance.

Good morning to you too Mel. 😘

Happens a lot more than what makes the news and usually much smaller. I believe this was part of why offshore was banned(?)

I’m very upset about this. I don’t even know if titties would cheer me up.

I blame the cretins that keep buying big gas hogs that make oil companies rich and always looking for more ways to suck out the oil from land and water. Should be a sin tax on vehicles getting under 25 mpg.

That’s very sad to hear.
There are over 2,500,000 miles of energy pipe lines in the US transporting 90 percent of the United States energy. For most of us, these pipelines are out of sight and out of mind. Until an accident.
Most spills are a result of accidents ( humans being humans). On rare occasions, neglect ( greed ),
Sabotage are factors and these spills tend to be the larger ones.
Unfortunately, energy pipelines are necessary in our current world unless you want to return it to the Stone Age.
However, as consumers, each of you can make a small impact everyday.
Think about your purchase, is there a better choice for what I’m purchasing?
Avoid purchasing plastics
Buy local
Drive less
Go zero waste or at least try to reduce it.
Choose petroleum-free beauty products. Not a problem for me.
Reduce your power use at home.
Don’t use bottled watered. most of these end up in our ocean.
Just my thoughts.

The pipeline is actually dug under the sea bed. Those assholes need to be held accountable.

Oil has now reached Laguna Beach. The beaches are closed as a precaution. Does a green new deal seem all that far fetched under the circumstances?

was supposed to take the boat over there yesterday to watch the Pacific Air Show which was cancelled due the leak.
seems strange leaks are not discovered and closed sooner.
gonna be expensive clean up, guessing they have insurance.

Go figure. The energy company who owns that rig off the coast is based in Houston, Texas. Go figure. FUCK TEXAS!!!

I hear Facebook shut down for a while.
I guess that's more important than thousands of sea wildlife dieing.

I flew to San Jose from SNA last Tuesday.
I counted 75 container ships parked offshore.
The likelihood of and anchor intendent happening is very great.
