I am interested in being monogamous with you for 1 hour.

Preach it, Sister! Women simply needed marriage for security, historically. As more women become high income earners, they are less apt to marry. Also, biologically, women’s prime fertility years diminish much earlier than men’s, so they have a sense of urgency to close the deal with a guy.

"Monogamy is a humane invention"
For good reason to. However, It seems that guys will settle for second best, some women to which will not long lasting.
What I learned long ago is that Overt Acts committed against one another and mostly things with held, which lead to Overt acts is what kills a relationship / marriage.
Sometimes I wonder if Spock is right in his statement, "Love is illogical." It certainly is emotional.
I now some people I'd like ask about that if I get the chance, and probably get an answer I never thought about.

Interesting, but don't penguins mate for life? I believe ducks do as well, so there is some nature to it right?
ps, some bird species mate for life. But animals don't have sex for pleasure as they are a different Theta beings than humans.
Eh... Theta in classical Greek was associated with death.
Anywho...some mammals are also monogamous but each species is different. Oh great...now I'm curious about how monogomy impacts the development of non-adult humans (using another word got me a TOS)

Man & women are to be monogamous..unfortunately we have all perverted our minds into thinking we are not made to be..& yes, we are made..created..4 billion odd years is nowhere near enough time to randomly stumble upon the information required to build life. There is a finite number of life forms(generation), because time itself is finite in relation to life on the planet. It's not possible.
People can try to subvert, ignore, & attempt to create their own reality, but we were made to be monogamous
I think a lot of monogamy is tied to ensuring the genetic line continues. We are incentivize to stick around until that is secured. Once that happens, (grown up children) there is no particular reason remain. If people remain together after that, it’s because they like like, respect each other, or don’t have the means to bail.

^^^^^
our creator made us to bring the best DNA forward.
females wired to be selective and typically be the one allowing reproduction.
males wired to be less selective and sow their seeds, on the other hand the male spews millions of sperm cells and only the faster one makes it to the goal line, so in a way - only the best of the male is reproduced.
crazy to think we are in person the best version of our ancestors.
monogamy?
I am not so sure it matters as long as the family structure remains healthy.
strong family structure is required to keep the DNA staying alive and reproducing.
the human is a wonderful designed creature.

There's a "fine line" to everything !!
Animals do it on instinct, I doubt for pleasure.
Humans are not the only animals that fuck for pleasure. Dolphins, and many primates fuck for fun and increased bonding. Did you know rats and mice laugh when you tickle them? I have a friend of mine how is a biologist. They tell me all sorts of cool stuff about animals.

I totally agree with you Marissa. I always thought that the swinger life-style was most in sync with the realities of our emotional needs and physical desires. Its wonderful to have a deep, loving, emotionally committed relationship while also enjoying the "spice" that sexual variety provides. Sharing that with your partner keeps it out in the open and creates trust. I once heard a saying "Play together, Stay together".

Dr. Ian Malcolm, "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates Man, man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs"
Dr. Ellie Sattler, "Dinosaurs eat man..... Woman inherits the earth”
Up until the Martians invade the Earth.
HX user espousing monogamy is either ironic or hypocritic. Serious introspection time

Monogamy isn't a bad thing. It is a protective and self contained way of life that had to exist to limit competition and increase an alpha's chance at breeding. It became emotional once humans began to develop preferences but it serves a purpose and serves it well.
Societal pressures and an increased availability of mates pushes the need for monogamy into the frey but it is not all together useless. Psychology and other inventions of human "logic" beg us to fulfill ourselves as individuals and it intices us to pursue potential so naturally it extends into potential mates as easily as it does potential wealth or other material or spiritual opportunity.
So in short. We can fuck the same fucker for a fucking long time but we prefer to fuck a lot of fuckers to fucking try it out.

Link to second blog. I have no idea why the second was created with so many more comments still allowed on this one.

It may be that we are best suited for serial monogamy. People change over time. If they change in the same direction they may remain together. Otherwise, it makes sense to move on.
But there is a lot to be said for staying with the same person over the long haul. But more than half the time, it just doesn’t go that way.

I need to schedule an appointment for my SO to see you for a therapy session ASAP

OP, I gave your argument a try on my wife.
I will be sleeping alone on the couch tonight.

I'm all about sharing my love.

Monogamy: Some people are naturally monogamous. Some people achieve it by working at it. Some people can't do it and live a life filled with guilt and regret. Some people (like Marrisa_G, thank goodness...) don't roll that way and are fine with it.
There is no right or wrong.
Finding a like minded partner is like winning the lottery.
It works for some people, for others it is anathema as to who they are.
Just be mature and respectful and honest where you are on the subject.
And if your partner is also not monogamous, be an adult about it.
Monogamous societies are less violent and therefore propogate the species.
@Mutton I don't know if that's a correlation we can assume. Of course this topic is way, way outside my personal fields of expertise.
It is interesting though.
Monogomy for.men is different!
I should have at least mentioned the term, "ethically non-monogamous" which is a common term in the Lifestyle community and pretty much describes all of them (including me).
There's also the non monogamous agreement DNDT " Dont ask don't tell " which is what many folks on here do, whether or not it was agreed upon 😅
^^^^^ ha ha for reals !!!!
To date I have been in 17 monotonous relationships.
Covering the last 53 years.
^^^^. Is that why you are still here?

Atticus_Finch, did we read the same blog? I'm pretty sure that after making the statement you quoted I went on to say, "Certainly, some animals can exhibit some of these emotions but none of them have the ability to experience ALL of them...." I think hatred is a uniquely human emotion (and possibly fantasizing). Animals may fear one another (and especially fear humans), but I doubt that they experience hatred. Having said that, I don't necessarily disagree with the theme of your response. No single species is screwing up the planet more than humans; not even close.

Been ENM for a year now…best way to go IMO

Does monogamy mean:
The married guy gets sex ONLY for the purpose of childbearing? And when childbearing is done, so is the sex?
No holding hands, no touching, except where the purpose is CLEARLY nonsexual? Like rubbing shoulders and backs? No baring of body parts. Very little communication except for demands and orders to get things done (Honey-Do's, without "honey")?
It's been that way for 23 years... Which makes me EVEN more appreciative when someone ATTRACTIVE walks by. Oh, that does elicit a silent response, like a slap to the back of my head, or a sharp elbow into my rib cage. Don't even mention ads in the Sunday paper!
Monogamy may be ok? If it wasn't so painful.

I'd love to spend the rest of my days just watching Miss Marisa G.

@callvan
This blog has been dormant for awhile, but in going over it again I had to laugh at your closing line..
"We can fuck the same fucker for a fucking long time but we prefer to fuck a lot of fuckers to fucking try it out."
Reminded me of the Young Bull (Y / Old Bull (O story:
A father and son, both bulls (YB and an O, are on a hilltop looking down on a field below full of heifers.
YB: "Let's run down this hill, jump over that fence, and fuck one of those heifers!"
OB: "No son. Were are going to WALK down this hill, CLIMB over that fence, and fuck ALL those heifers!"
That story can also represent the wisdom that comes with age, or the use of one's energy reserve.
Get rid of the fence part. I have never seen a bull climb a fence.
^ Yeah, you're right. When a bull senses a heifer in estrus they will charge right through the fence!
Marissa...are guys charging through fences to get at you????
Old bulls just open the fuckin gate
We should also probably reveal that a Bull will only mate with a cow once.
There were definitely a few girls that got away I would have happily committed the rest of my life to. I'm still looking for one (and only one) person to settle down with but for the time being I'm enjoying my freedom and the friends I'm making
OP, Where does anal fit into this grand story of bulls and heifers?
Just asking for somebody who knows a friend of my uncle's brother's mother-in-law twice removed.
Thanks!
