I'm on my phone at the moment so can't pull up a link, but there's (what I think is) a good article about this by Albert Breer in Sports Illustrated.
He harks back to a comment from the player's strike, where the (then) Cowboy's president made the remark: We're the ranchers and you're the cattle. We can always get more cattle.
Funny how all these emails turned up in an investigation into the conduct of the Washington Tootball Team, who's results were quickly swept under the carpet at the same time as raising this to deflect what's really going on.
I'm not saying that Jon is a saint and he probably did make the remarks he did, but he's being make the scapegoat while the NFL and owners try to make themselves out as holier than thou.

Sharing topless pictures of cheerleaders is probably a good way to get canned. Interesting to see what comes of that regarding how they were obtained.

Gruden may have survived the first batch of emails.
But then calling Goodell out of name upsetting LGBTQ and then dropping the cheerleaders pictures amongst other comments over 7 years became indefensible no matter what hill his supporters chose to die on.

How is it that an investigation into the toxic culture of the Washington Redskins ( Dan Snyder may be the worst owner ever in pro sports) ends up only releasing Jon Gruden's e-mails. Nothing from Snyder or current Redskin management (Bruce Allen doesn't count); a group that clearly allowed, abetted, condoned, etc. an extremely hostile work environmental for women employees. The Redskin investigation had nothing to do with racism and everything to do with the abuse of female employees. Yet, the only one on the short end is freakin Jon Gruden. Explain that.
