It also has a lot to do with the breeding of the Dog.

I think they are dangerous regardless.
Insurance companies won't insure your home if you have one at home.

Lot of rescues are rebranding their pits as mixed breed for that very reason.

i had one and she was so sweet to us (people she knew) but was very over protective around strangers. She never bit anyone though, she looked (like many other pits) "scary" but she was the sweetest thing. I think its more so the ones that were brought up from a pup to be vicious or mean....to each their own tho

I love dogs
Big n small
However I been around pit bulls and I'm just never comfortable.
Maybe a lab mix or something I have felt better.
I just feel like they stare at me and always ready to pounce
They have jaws like a shark when they grip anatomically speaking they are doing damage.
I do feel bad for the bad rap for the full breed
And their history
I think today dogs are being over bred in general and
To many breeders - mills- and not enough GOOD people to home them.
Think bout the dogs in the shelter
Or rescues
Plainly those are just shirt people who simple
Didn't give a shit bout looking for their dog
I remember on Craigslist seeing assholes revoking their 5 year ol poodle say simply cause their new home doesnt allow dogs
Da Fuq so sad find 1 that does. U p.o.s. lol seriously.
I get it their are reasons to rehome- to give th dog a better life- maybe new dynamics in life like a demanding job or whatever
But ya...
Anyways..
Adopt! If u can even if it's pitbull

all Pittbulls are dangerous, except mine - he is a sweetheart.

They are a lot like people. It depends how they are raised.

GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE
PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE
PIT BULLS ARENT VICIOUS
UNLESS THEY ARE TRAINED TO BE

Jacinto562 is correct that some insurance companies will not provide homeowner's insurance if you own a pitbull or some other breeds they regard as risky.
Personally if I was going to get a Pitbull I would want to get a new born puppy. The rescue shelters are supposed to check to see if the rescue dog is suitable to be adopted. When in doubt they are probably going to decide in favor of the dog being suitable for adoption. With some breeds that might not be a big problem but with a dog as powerful as a pitbull it can be problematic.
I actually had a client that had several pitbull rescues over the years so he definitely knew how to handle them. However his last pitbull rescue took off his finger and he was fortunate that the finger could be sewed back onto his hand.

accidents happen...just like with guns
good with people having either....don't necessarily need them around me, but will be ok with it on occasion...more protective around lil ones

My experience was with my sisters 2 pit bulls. They both were the most gentle dogs that just wanted to be with you, on u very loving dogs. I believe it’s true in breeding and care of them. Little yappy dogs are worst than pit bulls.

Dog attitude = owner level of experience and/or disposition.
My neighbor's Pitbull is a big puppy, she wants to say hello to everyone: Little kids to people she shouldn't say hello too. She'd be the worst guard dog ever.
Live long enough and your villain of choice was Dobermans, Rottweilers and German shepherd.
Although the scariest dog to have would be one running towards you in the artic. One that's being chased by crazy Norwegians in a helicopter. "The Thing" by John Carpenter (It's Halloween month so...had to bring that one up).

Have had two pit bulls in my life. They are the sweetest & most obedient dogs I have ever had, & I never fix my dogs, train them right, there should never be an issue.

^^ 100% agree!

I had 1, he was fixed at an early age and trained properly, very loving and loyal, we never had even close to an issue; now my Suegra's little chihuahua, that's another story lol

Your home insurance company thinks that they are aggressive is the only reason
I don't have one.
I drove to Palmdale on an errand for my boss. When I arrived there was a pit bull at the gate. Lady said she is friendly come on in. Said she just wandered into the yard one day. I played with her for about fifteen minutes and became quite fond of her. The lady said that I could have her if I want but I thought about one of the questions my insurance company asked when I renewed my policy. Do you have a pit bull or any other large dogs. Sadly I had to leave her there.
