The immunity also drops rapidly from the vax and actually drops you negative so vaxxed individuals are MORE likely to get covid and get it worse then non vaxxed. The more boosters you get the worse it is for your immune system

A few reasons for this, and I'm repeating myself, but when much of the population is vaxxed, you're going to expect more vaxxed are hospitalized just due to the sheer numbers:
An example:
Say 90% of people are vaxxed. And say efficacy of vaccine is 80%. How many hospitalizations do you expect out of 1000 people from vaxxed? Unvaxxed?
0.1*x + 0.2*0.9*x=1000
357 hospitalizations are unvaxxed and 643 are vaxxed.
But if not for the vaccine, you would have 2572 more people hospitalized!

Actually, if you actually read the paper and not the right-wing media report, you'd see that that figure isn't statistically significant from 0, so it doesn't necessarily "drop you negative."

I agree with you for the most part, paknarod, except your comparison of Florida to other states for vaccination rate. The problem here is that much of the distribution of US vaccination rates itself in my opinion has been too low to begin with. The United States has fallen behind countries like Germany, Japan, the UK, and Canada. If you look at death rates during Delta, these more highly vaccinated countries have had lower death rates than the US. I hypothesize we would have fared better if our vaccination rates were more in line with those from these countries.

I actually was wrong. Canada and Germany haven't had large waves yet, so that's why their deaths are low, not due to the vaccine.
We'll know more when more countries and states go through waves. Hopefully that won't happen though.

Florida has had about 90 more deaths per 100,000 than California. However...
Florida's population of over 65 is 20%, the highest concentration of any state in the nation.
California on the other hand is just 14%, ranking 45th nationally.
So if more people died there, the reason is obvious...more high risk population.
Florida did it right.
