China Eyes Afghanistan's $1 Trillion of Minerals With Risky Bet on Taliban.

Afghanistan is rich in resources like copper, gold, oil, natural gas, uranium, bauxite, coal, iron ore, rare earths, lithium, chromium, lead, zinc, gemstones, talc, sulphur, travertine, gypsum and marble.

Tesla currently produces batteries with Japan's Panasonic Corp at the so-called Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada. It also has battery contracts with South Korea's LG Chem Ltd and China's Contemporary Amperex Technology.

Tesla wants to shift to a less expensive battery for its electric vehicles but first needs to figure out how to overcome political tensions to get a Chinese partner to build the iron-based batteries near its U.S. factories.

It will be a great history lesson to see how China handles Afghanistan. The People’s Republic is more than happy to break rules to get what it wants, and the Afghan’s know that China will play hardball with them if things to not go the Chinese way for contracts and safety, now that we are out.

I'm somewhat surprised we have not been eyeing these resources having been there 20 years.

It suffices to say we literally tripped over our own boots trying to get out so fast so that China could rule the day.

we are dumb fuckers in that regard,,,trump would have at least explored the options on that...at least a small percentage to help mitigate all the costs of being over there...might not have gone anywhere

As much as I disliked Trump, at least he would have made an effort to do SOMETHING to the benefit of this country, as opposed to Biden and the Dems who look to undermine us at every opportunity.

Should've hired China to go in and kill all those Ghanistanis from the start
Woulda been a lot cheaper plus less wear and tear on our equipment
And they DGAF about those tribal fucks anyway
Just grind 'em up for Alpo and sell it to us for pet food
Once the people are gone
We can grab all the valuable shit
Then use the country for a giant landfill for old batteries.
Win win win

Lithium, as in batteries, is the big resource in Afghanistan.

things might be different this time as taliban are inviting both russia and china in...be nice to see them get fucked into same type of situation

Putin Rejected Role for U.S. Forces Near Afghanistan at Summit With Biden
After Afghan withdrawal, U.S. military hopes to position forces temporarily near Afghanistan, but Putin told Biden that Moscow objects

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a June 16 summit meeting with President Biden, objected to any role for American forces in Central Asian countries, senior U.S. and Russian officials said, undercutting the U.S. military’s efforts to act against new terrorist dangers after its Afghanistan withdrawal.

"we are dumb fuckers in that regard,,,trump would have at least explored the options on that"

Trump was President for 4 years and never "explored the option".

We were there for 20 years. It would have taken hundreds of billions in investment to extract those resources. It's not easy or free.

USA wasted money and resources in Afghanistan - should have left long ago.
If China or Russia wants to deal with taliban, let them..
BTW China is not exactly Islam friendly.

as much as I dislike Trump, he (also) made the deal to exit Afghanistan.

Laphaggot... Trump left safe guards in place that biden removed. The taliban was advancing for months and biden knew about it and did nothing. He has blood on his hands

^^^^^
actually I meant it as a positive thing, Trump had said in his campaign that he would pull US out of international conflicts - which he did.
I dislike Trump but I like many of the policies his administration accomplished.

Like i said US should have left Afghanistan long ago..focus on the homeland.
