Imagine the mental gymnastics one must perform to think America is a racist country. The one country that has done more to push equality than all others.
13th Amendment:Slavery Abolished
14th Amendment: Citizenship & Equal Protection
15th Amendment: Right to Vote
My favorite thing ever is people who want racism to end (apparently) always need to call out white people while trying to get their point across.

Why would said laws be made if America was not a racist country? If all Men are equal, there would be no need to have the Voting Rights Act or the Fair Housing Act! This is common sense, no mental gymnastics! George Washington had over 300 slaves and according to White academia, he treated them poorly. Most of the framers of the Constitution had slaves. There is a double standard in the criminal justice system, housing system medical system, etc. A group of White farmers filed a lawsuit against the USDA because they were going to give funding to the Black farmers that they have neglected over 100 years. The white farmers benefited from the USDA’s funding disproportionately for many years, so now they are crying reverse discrimination. Even though they got 90% of the funds for many years.
If McConnell can say that Black people should not get reparations for slavery because the White population voted for a Black President; America is racist!! By not admitting it, Black folks will never get reparations.
No mental gymnastics, only common sense.

Looks like you don’t know the history of this country very well. No surprise. Let's go back just a bit first. Slavery was brought over to America from its practices in Europe, it was also being practiced (& many argue that America learned slavery from there hence the Atlantic Slave Trade) in Africa, as it is today, but more on that later. Jefferson himself, as the majority of the American Colonists opposed slavery under the reign of King George. In fact KG PREVENTED legislation from the American colonies to ban slavery.. but I'm sure you knew that.. right..?
Thomas Jefferson:
"He (KG)has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights to life & liberty in the presence of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere.
Determined to keep open a murder where menshould be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce."

This was all in the original Declaration of Independence. Jefferson described King George as capturing slaves, selling them on the open market, & PREVENTING the colonists to STOP IT.
Georgia & North Carolina alone pushed to remove the words of Jefferson, & KG made a push to break up the formation of the colonists, yet knowing they had to stick together to stand a chance, a second draft was written.
So why did Jefferson & many others continue to own slaves?
I'm sure you know of the financial state of The founding fathers, & the fact that Virginia Law made it extremely difficult to free their slaves if the owner had significant debt, which Jefferson did, as well as most during the time. They simply could not financially unburden themselves from the ties of slavery. The founders understood perfectly that slavery must be abolished in America, but they could not fight two wars at the time.
The Declaration itself for the first time in human history made the argument that ALL humans were equal which in itself undermines slavery. Taking these first steps to stop a practice that they were opposed to. That is called.. progress.. that is called PROGRESSIVISM.

There is a huge difference between America is a racist country and there are racist people in America.
At some point the stupid narrative that the entire country is racist needs to be dumped and people need to understand that there will always be racist people, but you don't need to define an entire country by the actions of a few.
