I'm in the process of planning a life changing event that might cause me to seek my own health insurance.
If your not completely destitute, the cost for someone like me is over $800/month with a $5k deductible. And this is for decent coverage, anything with a $1k or less deductible is over $1k a month. This is for a SINGLE person!
Absolutely insane for the richest country in the world. My Canadian friends find it astounding that on top of the cost of having insurance there are things like deductibles and co-pays ON TOP of the insurance fee.
This isn't a scam, this is out right robbery. People like to go about about "socialism" but holy shit there has got to be a better way than this.

• Login to your StubHub Account at StubHub.com
• Visit the Settings page, under your Profile
• At the bottom of the page, enter your information under Taxpayer Identification Details
Beginning January 1, 2022, sellers who reach the $600 threshold and do not have TIN information on file will receive an email alerting them to update their information. Payment will be withheld from sellers until TIN information is provided.
If you meet these reporting requirements, we’ll generate a 1099 and send it to you via U.S. Mail at the beginning of each year. The same information will be sent to the IRS and state tax agencies where applicable (e.g., Massachusetts, Vermont)..

The comment above about healthcare. Yes its cheaper in Canada. Try getting sick and needing and MRI or other. Enjoy your time on the waiting list. Same thing in England. My friend had to wait 6 months just to see a dentist for a procedure.
Socialism had NEVER worked no matter where or when its been tried.
If Insurance companies were able to compete in all 50 states....prices would go down. That is not the case & Obummer care did not help this one bit. Again class socialism never works.
Lastly....regarding taxes.
Ever President who has lowered taxes has seen a huge influx of monies to the gov. Why? People know better how to spend money for investing vs the gov. JFK....Clinton....Reagan....Trump....all showed HUGE increases when this happened. They just have a problem with spending too much.

Changes in marginal income tax rates cause individuals and businesses to change their behavior. As tax rates rise, taxpayers reduce taxable income by working less, retiring earlier, scaling back plans to start or expand businesses, moving activities to the underground economy, restructuring companies, and spending more time and money on accountants to minimize taxes. Tax rate cuts reduce such distortions and cause the tax base to expand as tax avoidance falls and the economy grows. A review of tax data for high income earners in the 1920s shows that as top tax rates were cut, tax revenues and the share of taxes paid by high income taxpayers soared (see Figure 1).
The Mellon Tax Cuts
When the federal income tax was enacted in 1913, the top rate was just 7 percent. By the end of World War I, rates had been greatly increased at all income levels, with the top rate jacked up to 77 percent (for income over $1 million). After five years of very high tax rates, rates were cut sharply under the Revenue Acts of 1921, 1924, and 1926. The combined top marginal normal and surtax rate fell from 73 percent to 58 percent in 1922, and then to 50 percent in 1923 (income over $200,000). In 1924, the top tax rate fell to 46 percent (income over $500,000). The top rate was just 25 percent (income over $100,000) from 1925 to 1928, and then fell to 24 percent in 1929.
Secretary Mellon knew that high tax rates caused the tax base to contract and that lower rates would boost economic growth.
