A dozen Senate Republicans, not House Republicans
I wish they would not rush into impeachment. They need to throughly investigate the rioters and find out the influence Donald Trump had over them. Did they think Trump wanted them to storm the Capitol? The reason this is important is Donald Trump never explicitly incited violence (e.g. he told them to go "peacefully"), but perhaps there was implicit incitement. Democrats need to have enough evidence to prove their case before they move forward, otherwise they will lose again I fear.

Mitch is trying to stop the lemmings from going over the cliff and taking the GOP with them.
N-R, did someone hack your account? This doesn't sound like you. Look at the tape. He repeatedly said his supporters should never give up, etc. It was a call for violence.
He only made that statement about being peaceful AFTER the rioting because he was forced to by his staff. Just as he was forced to go on camera the next day & say he'd agreed to a peaceful transition. Then regretted it in private. There's no changing this beast.
Jarhead, as for the dozen Republicans: It's badly worded, but because it says "including Liz Cheney" who's in the House, the writer must've meant 12 Republicans in the House & Senate.

Take the time to read the entire text of Trump's speech. I am absolutely positive that most idiot journalists never took the time to do so.
They are fucking lazy bastards who take excerpts from others....a single line taken out of 3 paragraphs of narrative.
Yes, he asked people to walk to the Capitol peacefully and never mentioned violence in the entire speech. He asked people to 'fight' but it was in political context of trying to elect the right people in office, including getting weak Republicans out of office by running better people in primaries.

Cheney has no base. Mcconnell is butthurt cuz he, deservedly so, is no longer Senate majority leader. He blames Trump for that but it is cocaine Mitch fault. The 2k checks are popular everywhere. Had he got on board he might still be majority leader. The GOP Base loves Trump and hates Mcconnell and the establishment. And those voters have no problem sitting out an election and letting the democrats win.

Need a 2/3rds (67) vote from the Senate to impeach Trump..
Granite pot calling the kettle black
angler1, 2/3 of the senators present at the vote I believe. That opens a door.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not 100% sure about this.
as a conservative, I hope the democrats continue the impeachment process. I think it is a win/win for the conservatives.
Apparently you don't know what "etc." means. In this case, that means that wasn't the ONLY thing he said. But he's not worth my time to transcribe all that he said. The tape's there for all to see. Why do you think Republicans are blaming him for the violence?
And PAA you're demonstrating what the sane people have been saying: You're just following your cult leader. Anyone who defies him is worth hating. You now dismiss Mitch (and nice TOS by the way) & everyone else who's caving on him.
You're no an American. You are in a cult.
SeedinAnus nigga you "won" and you're still butthurt. You're the cultist. The tape is there and somehow you still see hear what you want to hear not what is actually said. And now you're defending Mitch lmao. Looks like TDS is a thing after all
possible mitch is jerking them off a bit...willing to hold the vote and get this over with...knowing that getting to 67 ain't happening and wasting a bit of time...maybe another 20miles of wall can be built while the dems are consumed with this
also quite possible gop wants to be rid of trump and the movement as a whole
You gotta wonder if more culpability will be dug up? Why was there so little security/police? Who or why did some DC Police supposedly let protestors into the capital building ? Why didn’t Acting Sec of Defense act sooner or act at all (or was he directed not to do so)? Why did VP Pence ultimately have to approve the National Guards directly with Army Commander?
Did Trump intentionally obstruct the intervention to stop the assault on the capital or was he just derelict in making the decision to defend the capital with the VP and congressional leaders inside?
Trump supposedly said he ultimately was the one who authorized the National Guards, but of course Trump has a reputation of always telling the truth.....NOT! 🤥

Mitch’s office is refuting the report

I used to hate the Political blogs on HX, now it's the only place to read different views...
zero hearing in the house...actually be good to get it done and voted on...fuck it
any gop'ers that flip and that think they are safe in the next election...good luck

N-R, did someone hack your account? This doesn't sound like you. Look at the tape. He repeatedly said his supporters should never give up, etc. It was a call for violence.
What a fucking idiot. That is your interpretation that this was a call for violence... why... because you want to believe what Pelosi and MSM tells you to believe.
I read what he said and it is a stretch to say he incited the mob to go down to the capital and knock the doors down. This was a bunch of jerks just looking for an excuse to rumble... just like a bunch of jerks used George Floyds death as an excuse to loot and pillage. I don't believe anyone in a position of power told them to burn their towns down... but they did so anyway.
I find it ironic that it has been days since the riot and we are only now seeing tidbits of Trumps speech. If he had truly incited that crowd to violence, clips would have been all over the place. Instead, Dems in congress and idiots in MSM have been 'saying' that was what he did and many on the left are gullible enough to believe what they are told.

The report that says this are framing this as "people who are very familiar with Mitchs' thinking" ... meaning 1 of 2 things .... 1) McConnell being the pos that he is is floating a test balloon or 2) we totally made this shit up cus we know Mitch is a pos that would kill his mother if he thought he could get political advantage out of it.
Either way everyone is saying the R's are done after this election... and if guys like Mitch or Mitt are done .... Good! They weren't good for the US in any capacity whatsoever.
Mitch is hanging himself. If he thinks graffiti is the worst of his problems, him pissing on his constituents is just going to escalate the situation.
The key is that the truth comes out in a manner that is uncontestable. Like the Russian involvement in the 2016 election and the real level of coordination / collusion / collaboration or not with the Trump campaign. Until there is a clear, uncontestable and documented "truth" that all reasonable people can accept, and then only squabble about the interpretation, we are screwed.
As Mitt said "tell them the truth". That has to be the start.

Did anyone actually read the speech? I did. The WHOLE thing. I've copied the final paragraphs below, but I encourage you all to do a deeper read.
What do I think? I think he's a bit unhinged...some of what I read made me cringe in a tin-foil hat conspiracy kind of way. I would hope that my president could be a bit more mature than that, maybe a lot more.
And I never really thought of him as a model for how people should live, but rather just someone who was able to catalyze a movement. And I cringe.
I think the real net of it is that he is very, very angry, and he stoked that anger in others. He did that consciously, with intent, though I do not see intent to storm the congress and commit violence and murder within that. Those were the choices of individuals and the mob.
Here's the text, and the link is below.
Donald Trump: (01:11:44)
Our brightest days are before us, our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say, “I want to thank you very much,” and they go off to some other life, but I said, “Something’s wrong here. Something’s really wrong. Can’t have happened.” And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.
Donald Trump: (01:12:21)
Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans for our movement, for our children and for our beloved country and I say this, despite all that’s happened, the best is yet to come.
Donald Trump: (01:12:43)
So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, I love Pennsylvania Avenue, and we’re going to the Capitol and we’re going to try and give… The Democrats are hopeless. They’re never voting for anything, not even one vote. But we’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones, because the strong ones don’t need any of our help, we’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.
Donald Trump: (01:13:19)
So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I want to thank you all. God bless you and God bless America. Thank you all for being here, this is incredible. Thank you very much. Thank you.

Only five members of House Republicans would vote for impeachment of Trump. Republican party continue to show it is nothing but boneless and spinless political farce.
And the saddest fact is that the half of American citizens including significant HX members still support this clown, and they are incapable to show their true motives behind it.
Rahcrener... you are so emotionally invested, it makes you irrational.
Have you been paying attention at all?
No one is defending the president. Any casual onlooker can see this impeachment is more about getting it in under the wire. In order to do that, they are abandoning the rules and processes in place that protect the integrity of the process.
They are bypassing the judiciary committee hearings, bypassing floor debate, bypassing requesting a response/argument from the accused.
You can’t get so angry that you throw everything else out the window in order to satisfy the momentary feeling of justice.
This is creating a precedent no one will want after people calm down.
^
You are completely wrong and can not read my message correctly, and I am just disappointed with what has transpired before my eyes past four years, especially you who still support Trump with your irrational reasoning
“You who support Trump”
You obviously can’t read
No one ask the question, what is the real motive behind impeaching a president who only has 7 days left in office.
The whole impeachment process at this point seems a bit unhinged...
NRs voice of reason is rubbing rubbing the snowflakes the wrong way
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhahaha
Thx you NR for not being a corporate whore
the funny thing is, it might be a smart move for Mitch Mcconnell to back Trump's impeachment. It will still fail in the senate, butttt...
It could easily set the stage for, the impeachment of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, for the same reasons, that have led up to both Trump impeachments..
maybe if they wait...the libs will change the rules to be a simple majority
@Insearchofstarfish, you are probably right on that
the constitution is pretty much dead at this point
"The whole impeachment process at this point seems a bit unhinged..."-vss4
Coming from one of the most unhinged members of HX. Yeah, guess I'm gonna worry about what he thinks.
"Some Democrats said Republicans were afraid of physical danger if they voted to impeach. (Jason Crow said) I had a lot of conversations with my Republican colleagues, and a couple of them broke down in tears saying that they are afraid for their lives if they vote for this impeachment"
(Wall Street Journal/House set to impeach Trump again with GOP support)
That is what I meant, spineless cowards Republicans has become after 4 years of their fuhrer's angry tweets.
It's official. Trump's just been impeached a 2nd time with 10 Republicans voting with Democrats. Mitch still hasn't made up his mind. But if he says yes & he has a Gang of Seven who support him, that's 8 more votes in addition to Romney (who already voted to convict last time), Murkowsky, Toomey, etc. Senate needs 2/3 of those who show up to vote, so less than 67
posted it twice huh? must be important
I actually think it would be good for the GOP if Trump got convicted in the Senate.
Then they could stop worrying about his comeback and maybe try to get back to being a party that makes some sense again, instead of being the party of just one man and whatever crazy shit he tweets that particular day.

Kip, I can see you are still in awe of the magnitude of my charisma & stature. That's at least the 3rd time you made a comment then had to quickly correct yourself (once, two corrections in a row!). . because you were so nervous typing in my presence.
I can understand. Be calm. Be calm. I'm not a God. I only appear to be.

Saddest thing of all is that this country is now ruled by the mob who wants to do lynching and hanging on their own with their brutal force without any reasoning whatsoever, just as it has been in wild wild west.
